Surroundbar 360 hdmi to DVI

I just bought the Surroundbar 360. I have an older model TV with a DVI input. I bought a HDMI to DVI cable and hooked that into my new 360 DVD unit. When I turned it on it was a snowy picture. I tried the same cable on my HD DVR and it worked. I hooked up the 360 DVD with component and that worked. I then tried the 360 DVD on a newer TV in another room and hooked up HDMI to HDMI and the unit worked. So any suggestions on why it won't work with the DVI to HDMI? I am puzzled. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing? Thanks, Ruth
