LSI question for my HT.

My HT is currently running LSI-7s for my fronts and some old Infinity speakers for the center and rear speakers (I know it is best to match speakers, but I also bought LSI-15's for my stereo at the same time and I ran out of $). I am planning to buy a LSIC and two more LSI-7's for the rear speakers. I have been researching this forum to learn as much as possible and I came accross some posts that I wanted to ask about. They mentioned that they liked a 4.1 system and skipped the center speaker. This is definitely not the norm, but I like to consider all possibilities. Doing a 4.1 would be all LSI-7's or I could buy LSI-9's for the front speakers.
Thanks for any opinions.

Personally I like 4 Lsi7's all on wall with a LsiC. I don't prefer no center option. Even 6 Lsi7's on wall for a 7.1 I still want a center channel. It's about careful setup. The LsiC is a wonderful center when properly setup.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
It all comes down to the room and listening position. If most of the seating positions in your room are in the sweet spot - you may want to consider doing a 4.1 system. If not - A center may help tremendously. I know many here have said they prefer 4.1 to 5.1, but I have never heard a well set up 5.1 system that sounds better if you remove the center channel.
4.1 may sound better than a poorly implemented 5.1 system though.

As far as placement, the LSIC will most likely be placed in front of the TV 16" from the floor. My current center is on top of the TV which is 48" from the floor but I think the LSIC is too large to do this. My room is small and these are the only options.

Just tilt it up (or down if needed) so it is pointing at your ears and you will be fine.
Is your TV a flat panel mounted on the wall? Why would the LSiC not fit above it. (you can put it anywhere you want, just curious)Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

The TV not wall mounted. WAF is the wall mounting issue.

Could always put up a shelf and put the center on that, but it really does not matter, should be fine mounting below the TV, just tilt it up as I said...Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

Wall mounting can look very clean and 'integrated'.
I got the WAF on my setup:

After discussing a wall mount my wife said ok. My room is 14'L x 12'W X 9'H. What would be a recommended height for the LSIC?
Thanks. -
Ideal is tweeter at the same height as the tweeters in your front speakers. (or about ear height when seated) Up or down from that is fine, but tilt twords ears height when seated.Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
