Hi, I've got a PSW650 and recently I noticed it is humming / buzzing noticeably.

I removed all inputs and it is still humming while plugged in to AC power.

The rest of my audio system does not have this problem, so I assume it is related to the subwoofer's internal amp or circuitry.

None of the capacitors appear to be bulging or defective.

Any ideas on how I could troubleshoot this? I have a multimeter and have fixed electronic equipment in the past, but I am not an electrical engineer.

Any help very much appreciated!!

i got an AC power line conditioner ($130 Monster Cable) and it did not help. Now I'm convinced the problem is in the sub.

Any ideas? Should i try to replace the transformer or what?

    Thanks

    Hello,
It might be a good idea to consider removing the amplifier and sending it to our San Diego service department? Have you taken it out of the cabinet yet?

I put it back together but its easy enough to take it out again.

my preference would be to be able to do some basic level of troubleshooting before i sent it in.

what is the cost for polk to take a look at it / fix it?

Have you tried altering where things are plugged in?

I had a hum in one of my subs a little while back. I had the one sub plugged into a different outlet than the rest of the system which is all on a single power board . I changed the power amp to the lone outlet and plugged the sub to the multi board and its gone, dead silence.....
In terms of audio, i truly feel sorry for the visually impaired. How can they know what they like if they cant read google?
