    Rats! Wanted to like it, tried to like it, my son (16 yr old) liked it, but I thought it was very weak. Story didn't work well, tired "big bad govt" plot and they totally missed the boat with Gort (the use of, not the look) as far as I'm concerned. Could have worked the characters much better but as usual tried to make a big stupid splashy ending. Oh well...

    I'm going to try and work this into my holiday movie screenings.

    Cable has aired the original twice in the last couple of days - I 'dropped' in while flicking channels and stopped to watch the last 2/3rds.

    IMO, despite it being 'old' and some parts being a bit cheezy, I thought there was some really good dialogue and acting with a tight story line and message.

    A good story with engaging thoughtful dialog will always get my thumbs up over endless frenetic special effects - but - that's just me. ;)

    H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music.

    The movie sucked!!! bad sfx,wait for a 99 cent rental day!!!Conelly was beautiful but she needs to eat!!!

    I saw it in IMAX and I feel that was worth it for the sound and visual effects. It is a rental if you can only see it in a regular theater.

    I didnt even go see it. i dont know if anyone has heard of Rottentomatoes.com but its a site that takes reviews from newspapers magazines and the top reviewers all over the country and avgs them all out and gives you a percent. it also takes the reviews of the people on the fourm and avgs them into it as well. I am not one to takes someones opinon on something but when 100 reviews out of 128 say its bad i am not wasting $20+. My bros went and some other friends and everyone wishes thay had not

    Hollywood has gone off the deep end. They think special effects will carry a Movie of the week movie into the box office. Why cant they make something as good as Forrest Gump with Proton Cannons and Death Rays ?? :D

    Finally got around to renting this flick. Decent effects, but that's about all. Took the messsage of the original, somehow turned it into preaching about CLIMATE change for God's sake.

    I thought the cinematography was solid and really if they had stuck with a less contrived story and gone for the more simple story of the original it really could have been a solid remake. Also, ditched Keanu - why'd they choose him anyway, because his name is so close to Klaatu?
