Welcome to the world of liquidation companies. Same thing with Circuit City 'store closing' sales. They raise everything back to full price, then take off a minimal % to start. I really don't know if they get more aggressive with the pricing or if they just send stuff back to the manufacturers.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

The liquidation companies have a plan. They know all the vultures are
circling, so they play this game for the people that don't know their
pricing. Tweeter is out of that deal. It's the liquidators at the helm.
I don't get it, but then they're the ones that have to deal with it.

Yeah I went looking at the Isonic. It was originally 499, they generously took off 100 bucks & said no further deductions.

Needless to say I walked back out!

Maybe it's just me, but $1169 for a pair of LSi15's doesn't sound bad at all for brick-n-mortar. $999 was a great deal. The prices for many speakers has gone up in recent months too.

But... according to their website - http://tweeter.com/

"Everything is now 20-50% off "original prices""

Which original? What they were before the sale, or what they were when first released?
    Ludicrous gibs!

It's a pretty common liquidation practice for higher dollar items like furniture or electronics. It's psychological. Many uneducated buyers go there looking for a good deal and all they see is the % off with little consideration for the original price.

They didn't increase price and apply percentage deduction. The original price for the LSi15 was $849. Any authorized online dealer has this MSRP except the Big River ($749 [actually $749 was original until Polk raised to $849]). I'm not sure where Tweeter you went to, but the ones in Boston area have them 30% off from $849. The VM series are also 30% off. Some is even 40% off (i.e. Yamy YSP-4000 = ~$950 ..brand spanking new in the box).

Too bad, I love the LSi15 ($1100 affordable) but I cannot bare the price tag of 5.1 plus the separate amp.

$1100 new isnt a bad deal. The refurbs on ebay from Polk closed at 950+ shipping. Are they closing all the stores? If it drops half of that I might have to drive to Houston.

They close all stores; and I believe they have 5 weeks to liquidate all inventory. At the store I frequent, even with 30% off it seems like nobody is buying Polk; 5 pairs of LSi15 [all in sealed boxes] are still on the floor. DSW Micro Pro 4000 sub is going for ~$1100 (new). Focal JMLab speakers were gone at 20% off.

5 weeks? Thanks for the info. I will call them to check prices every now and then. Lsi15, LsiC, and a strong amp. Then I will be set for years.

More than likely you are not going to get that crazy deal. The liquidation company will just take the stock to the next sale. Someone will end up buying them eventually. Unless of course, you get a manager that stayed on til the end who says what the hell and just blows them out. I'm kinda hoping for that here but odds aren't with me.

Yeah. You are probably right I am use to Fry's discontinued prices. They had the Lsi15's $400/pair. I bought some headphones for $84 originally $130 I check back a couple weeks later nothing left but the price tag and they were down to $30.

The 5 weeks is not official; I just overheard rumor in the store. They do discount very aggressively, at least the store I frequent. I'll go get a 5.1 Focal Dome tomorrow myself :) 40% off from $2599 not bad.

These are some cool **** good sounding speaker system. You can hang them off a ceiling and make a pretty nice Home theater system. Even the Sib/cub system wis very nice. I like it a lot.

Cathy, just to let you know, Polk has the iSonic for $399 directly from them, with free shipping.

I bought one for my wife last week for her birthday, using some Polk Bucks and cash. We received it on Saturday, and she is enjoying it so far. I'll be writing a short review of it shortly from my own perspective....

Oh yeah..The Focal Dome sub looks resemblance to R2D2 :)

I don't know if the 100-watts sub will do any justice to the satellites. Probably will need a more powerful sub to make this thing more dynamic.

I just bought Focal Dome 5.1. It was 40% off [with no further discount tag] of $2599.95; I was surprised when the salesman took another 6% off. He didn't tell me he took additional 6% off and I didn't ask for further discount, he just said the total came to ~$1470 including tax. I was like...alright with a big :).

One of the supervisor said out loud: look at that he took the Dome! Two other supervisors came and congratulated me, you made an excellent choice those are very excellent speakers :D. I expected them to sound great anyway since the tweeter is exact tweeter in the Electra 1000 S series; and the midbass is a miniaturize version.

:D You can tell how happy I am. This is my first 5.1 surrounds since '95!

Wish you luck with them. They are fantastic. They look weird but sound awesome. Congrads on the pickup.
