The pics don't do them justice. They just need a good rub down with some Murphy's. They are in great shape and are completely rebuilt with NOS AR drivers. Someone will be getting a steal, so take advantage of my joblessness.

the bad **** factor to price ratio dont get too much better then this. I have the AR9 (big brother of the AR90's) with the same tweet, mid, and midbass drivers. My AR9's will be with me till the day I die, there that good.

this is definitly a speaker that needs to stay in the family

I prefer the ARs to the LSi line, but that's just me. I've had LSi7s and LSi9s...the 9s were my fave of all the LSi series I've listened to.

I love the LSi line, but these are a notch (some will say more, many more) above them pretty much across the board.

I would say they are a touch more forward, in a good way that I wish the LSi's were. I like my speakers on the laid back side, and love the AR's because they are literally the perfect level of forward and detailed but nowhere near bright and harsh.

I will die with the 9's for one simple reason, I would have to spend a buttload of money to beat them. wether I am using other speakers or not, the 9's will stay in my house forever (or at least until they evaporate)

The AR-9 has 2 x 12" acoustic suspension woofers, and the 90 has 2 x 10". Naturally the AR-9 cabinet is slightly larger and heavier. The rest of the drivers are the same in both speakers (dome tweeter, dome upper mid, 8" cone lower mid).

I have had these AR-9 for quite some time. The only thing in this house that ever outperformed them is the Carver Amazing Platinum Mk. IV. The Carvers have been here for close to 20 years.

    I'm in total agreement.
They're some of the best sounding speakers around. I still have AR9, AR9LS, AR3, and AR3a's. The vintage AR line are some of the best around.
I know this is going to sound horrible but the price of the drivers alone is well above the asking price for these.
If you add in the worth of the grill frames which are all in excellent shape, original AR90 logos, etc, the worth of these speakers in parts is WAY more maybe double than what Noel is asking. Not even taking into consideration the beautiful cabinets it's a steal. Knowing the work situation In your general area and you needing the money, if I were Noel I'd part them out. I know it's the next to last resort but taking care of home and family comes first. Don't part them if you don't have to but do what's necessary. Maybe someone has some good gear to trade.
I have 5 large pairs of speakers still in my apartment or I'd be wheeling and dealing to get these back.
I love my Polks but these are a killer sounding pair of speakers and definitely a must have speaker if you have the room, need a pair of speakers, want to upgrade, or just love speakers. They're plug and play and don't need a thing . You won't regret grabbing these while they're available. They seldom come up for sale and in this condition even more rare to find them.

Noel, you should try Audiogon; a pair sold for $500, in black formica (). I'm sure that your pair with new drivers would sell for that or more.

These are not sold yet. Someone please remove the sold tag from the tread, please. I don't want to lose a sale, because my thread is being bypassed due to the sold tag.

    Thanks,
    Noel

Let me know something Joe. You're getting a free set of 12-14ft Quad 4s, terminated with gold pins and I'm eating part of the PP fess, too. $412 total to you.
