Audyssey settings...

I have an Onkyo SR806 Receiver, old Polk RM2300 5.0 with the Polk 10" sub that goes with that set. Room is a loft on a 2nd story home, probably 15x12, sub is in a corner next to the couch. When I run the speaker config, have ran it 4x now, my sub always gets set to -15 and I can't hear it at all, I also have to turn the receiver up about half way to get enough sound from the satellites to hear movies and music. I read about the adjusting the sub volume, phase and crossover frequency, but it still always gets set to -15db. I am trying to remember all figures as I am at work atm, but I believe the crossover frequencies are set to 120 for the front, center and surrounds, sub 80hz (thx). As mentioned the sub is set to -15, the other satellites are also negative values, albeit much less 1-5db. I am just not happy with the sound, with my old Marantz 7000, system sounded much better with my manual adjustments. I have read many posts on using tripods with the mic, having room completely quiet, etc. Just not sure whats going on. For those speakers does any of the above seem correct? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have not used mine yet but I have read that it helps to set the receiver volume at 0 before you run Audyssey.Sharp Elite 70

I go out of my way to make sure it's as quiet as possible, but it seems like its picking up something, I will try the volume thing and see if that helps. I can always manually adjust the settings... but the values from the calibration should not be so far off...

RobBas:
Disclaimer: I know Polk Subs are connected differently than some... (speaker level vs line level), so the following might not help. Also it's possible there's some setting on the Polk that could be a factor, but since no one is piping in, here's something to try.
QUICK SOLUTION:
Don't sweat it: for some reason (sub locale/volume, room acoustics?/menopause/karma?) Audyssey sometimes really goes wonky with regard to sub level setting.
ASSUMING YOU'VE ALREADY SET FRONT's TO "SMALL" (required to have sub kick-in):
Just change the sub level Using the Onk's Menus.
(Speaker Setup > Level Calibration)
more info: for standard powered sub connected via LFE general consensus is to set level on (on SUB itself) to about 50% before running autodessys. But given odd room acoustics you have, you may never get sub to register correctly. I have high ceilings and a down firing sub, and have often got wacky readings for the sub, so don't waste your time, just use the Onk adjust as desired.
Lastly: you didn't say what speakers you have -- 120 sounds kind of high for xover. But this setting is speaker dependent (based on speakers' range), so you really should get that sub going before messing with anything else.LR Setup:
