What is your budget. -
Advent sux dude!
I had a pair once and I didn't even pump em hard and toasted the tweeters 1st day I had em.
I wasn't overly impressed with their sound anyway.
Troll here in the Forsale area or the bay for some nice used Polk's.
My RT15i's are pretty sweet and can be had for $100 a pair or less.
Don't turn a def ear to some older like new Polks.....some of em sound better than the new ones IMHO.

My Advents were Prodogy's but I heard from many others that Advent was crap PERIOD.
I hafta laugh......
Any of the "HIGH END" Stereophile places around my area that sell ML...BIC....KEF...Mac or any of the real high end speakers say Polk....Paradim and Klipich are dime store consumer grade junk!
Polk being the first they mention.......like I said....I hafta laugh!!

Yea, I have been putting together my speaker set ups all off garage sales, craigslist, and the bay. I am spending all my dang money on tuition and beer. I just love to rock out in the mean time I got the bug of the speaker world last year and have been hooked ever since.

There are often vintage polk monitor speakers (monitor 5, 7's or 10's) available for under $100. (I picked up my monitor 10's at GoodWill for $24.00)
For new speakers, On Black Friday, Best Buy is supposed to have the T15's (5-1/4" bookshelves - black) for $50 per pair.Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
How do you like your vintage monitors? When is black Friday? Is that the after thanks giving one?
-
I like the monitor 10's that I have quite alot. I also heard some monitor 5's this last weekend and they were very nice as well. (probably better for critical listening)
I will say that I have not heard the peerless tweeters (the first tweeters used in the monitor line) but they are supposed to be the most desirable. I have heard the sl2500 series (used in the monitor II line - that is what series my monitor 10's are from) and I like them alot.
The SL1000 and sl2000 tweeter just do not do much for me. (I find them a little to bright for my tastes) There is a polk replacement for them though. (it will cost you $48 shipped per tweeter to get the replacements - well worth it from what I understand)
All in all for a speaker under $100, I think the entire monitor line (even with the SL2000) will be hard to beat.
And yes, Black Friday is the friday after thanksgiving. (a week from this Friday)Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

These (linky)? Yes, they shouldn't be more than $75-80, although I have seen seen them go higher for some reason.
EDIT:
Also there's another pair - # 290274926711 The serials are missing from the back, but I think they are RT25.
Good luck! -
What is the difference between between the 15i's and the 25's? Vintage monitor's would be way cool too. I couldn't find any initially but will keep looking. Thanks guys ROCK ON

I like them very much. You will most likely want the new tweeters, but if your hearing is like mine the 12k bump will not bother you. Shipping is kinda scary. The magnets like to shift which is unrepairable. You should check craigslist for something local?
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I wish I could snag these http://desmoines.craigslist.org/ele/903391330.html -

See if you can find a pair of Dynaco A-25s. There were zillions of those sold; shouldn't be too hard.
none of the 4 CL listings float my boad; the Jensens would be efficient, but kind of mediocre.
A pair of Polk Monitor 5s or 7s would work pretty well with a Sansui 1000X (a pretty low-powered receiver).

Hey hardy I found these 20 min away but they are a little out of my range. Do you think they are worth the $125?
http://desmoines.craigslist.org/ele/921953247.html -
Seems somewhat pricy to me but I don't keep track. Check completed auctions on eBAY and see what they are going for.
EDIT: You ought to be able to find a nice pair of Polk 7s for that, come to think of it! -
