You just got one of the sweetest TV's on the earth. Check out AVS forum for some good info. D-Nice has some good settings. I have last years smaller version (and trust me, I have had about 6 different HDTV's) and Pioneer beats them all. Just give it some time, get the correct settings, and be thankful that you have one of the best TV's ever made.

So why are you asking us how good it is, since you picked one up......

Out of all of your acquirements, I think you have the biggest difference maker. I have yet to see a display that compares, and I just have the 720p versions.

Oh just because I have only seen the 5020 and then only briefly. I got it from Amazon and they will deliver it sometime between the 20 and the 24th.

    Wing,
Good for you! I love my Pio 5020 and wouldn't leave home without it. I did the break in disc thing, because I'm neurotic. This it the prettiest display I've ever owned, love it. I also use D-Nice's settings, especially for Movie, and they are great. Best of luck with you're new toy. You won't regret it! Cheers, DJ:)

Exactly. Go to the AVS Forum site and get the settings that D-Nice posted. The Movie setting is quite spot-on. For regular Cable TV, and I have Comcast, I personally prefer the Performance setting. Some like Optimum, but it's locked and you can't adjust it, don't like that. Others use Standard for regular TV. We'll get you fixed up when you get the unit! Enjoy!! DJ:)

How does that Pioneer Kuro compare to Samsungs and Sonys top of the line tv. I just bought the a new samsung at americantv and noticed that the Kuro is wide as hell with those speakers on the side and pricey at over $4500.

I had 2 of the Samsung TV's, and the are good, but not as good as the Pioneer. As far as Sony, I had one but that was some years ago. Can not compare that one. It was horrible.
Check out all of the major AV sites that review TVs and all agree Pioneer is the best. They are expensive.

Hi, Well, the Kuro has a bottom mounted removable speaker, which doesn't sound bad for a stock speaker. The Elites have removable side speakers. If you got a Polk Surroundbar, they fit perfectly underneath the Pio displays in the low cradles and they don't block the IR receiver on the displays. Love Polk for designing them that way! As far as PQ, IMHO, I think the Pioneer plasmas are the best on the market, followed closely by the Panasonics, then Samsungs and forget about the Sony's.

Bottom line Pioneer make the very best at it's size tv on the market period. No Sony , Samsung , Toshiba , LG , Mitsu , or any other damn brand can compare. They are all good quality sets and would make all of us very happy for years and years, but if you want the best, that line stops at Pioneer. Elite just sets the bar even higher.

Really? The Surroundbar fits in the 6020?

I looked at the Panasonic but I really wated the 60 inch over the 58 and after reading the reviews I was sold.

The Panasonic lines are very very nice. I consider them to be the poor mans Pioneer. Except the 700 series, I found these sets to have a lot of noise and poor black levels. it seems they lack detail and it's very hard to get a proper calibration. I was disappointed when they came out. Now the new 800 series took it back to a higher level. Much improved black levels without noise. I really don't know what the hell happened to the 700 series. Like they where trying something different, dropped there pants, picked them back up and ran.

Yes. If you remove the standard speaker on the 6020, the Surroundbar 50 fits quite nicely set on the supplied low cradles underneath the display. The Surroundbar 50 is the exact length of the Pio 5020, making a nice fit.

    hey everyone! First post!!

I am getting a Pio 6020FD in the next week or so. I already picked up a Pioneer VSX-9130TXH receiver and I am looking at getting Polk RM95's for a surround package and the Polk DSW500 or DSW600 powered sub for the lows. Anyone have this set-up or thoughts on this set-up?

The room that I will be using is 13 feet wide by 25 feet long. My viewing area will be using the narrow width using a recliner sofa against one wall with the panel on the opposite wall 13 feet away. I have already installed a wall mount for my panel and am using one that will tilt, swivel and pull out http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10064118&catid=22918
I also want to wall mount the RM95's and am wondering about optimum placement. My plan was to space the front's approximately 10' apart at ear level, with the Center placed right below or above my panel. My surrounds will be at or close to the same height and directly across from the fronts on the wall that my sofa is against. Is this a good set-up??

Another question I have is for the DSW500/DSW600 placement. I was wondering if I placed the sub behind my sofa on one side would work well sound wise or if I would be forced to put the sub under the panel on the same wall the panel is on? Also, which sub should I go with as there is only a $50.00 difference between the two for me?

My goal is to have as clean as possible of set-up as I have a 16 month old son and another on the way and this will be a basement/rec room/playroom so I want things out of reach as much as possible. Another idea I have been tossing is using some Polk In-Walls but I am a bit leery on sound quality due to my room set-up and my walls not acting as a good sound chamber, not to mention the extra cost of the in-walls over the RM95's.

Any suggestions?? I haven't pulled the trigger on my speakers yet and have been mulling this over for the last week or so. My panel should arrive in a week or so and I picked up my amp last week.

    Thanks!

Welcome Pioneer. Congrats on your new set up.
It should sound nice. 13 feet might be a little far though. As far as sub placement, it really depends upon where it will sound best in your room. Trial and error will tell you that. A lot of folks like to stick ' em in a corner for extra boom.

I would place the surround about 2 to 3 feet above your ears to either side of the listening area. I think 3 to 4 feet above is the standard but I like them lower.

hi wingnut...thanks for your reply! I like your suggestion on the surrounds and I think I'll try that. You mention that 13 feet may be a little far apart. Are you referring to the range for the RM95's? If so, would you have a suggestion for other speakers? I come from a tower speaker background (like most) and I had some sweet Missions that I still have but are in storage. Upstairs I have some wall mountable sony speakers and I like the clean look but the sound is not what a tower can put out. I want to stay away from towers in my basement if possible and that's kinda the reason I have been thinking about the RM95's or doing in-walls. I am actually waiting for a price on in-walls. Have you any suggestions on in-walls or bigger/better than Polk RM95's for wall mounted?
