I have purchased an Anthem Amp 1 and M&K sub that I wish to connect to my receiver Mains Pre-out for 2 channel listening.( Marantz SR6200 ) I also have a another sub connected to my receiver LFE for home theater use. What is the best way to connect the Anthem and M&K sub to the receiver mains pre-out. I thought of using a Y-splitter off receiver mains pre-out to the amp and the sub. Does this make sense or?
If correct, I will set bass management as follows in receiver, Mains-Large, Center-Small, Rears-Small, Subwoofer-On.
Am I correct here or?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks, Weiser

Thanks for the reply TonyPTX!
I suppose my main concern is how the signal coming from the mains pre-out will be affected by splitting to amp and sub. Not alot I can do at this point until such time as I purchase a Sonic Frontiers pre-amp. Later!JVC AV48WP30 Widescreen TV

There have been many good discussions on this forum about alternative Sub connection methods. One of the most common is to put the sub in series with one of your mains. I will link you to a good recent thread, for more use the search forum function.
The only concern with the method you are considering is creating an impedance problem by splitting out of your pre-amp jack. It basically puts 2 loads in parallel on your pre-amp jack. This may or may not be a problem.

One other question. What is the best way to hook up the dvd player for 2 channel listening. I have the optical output of the dvd player hooked up to the receiver and listen to 2 channel music this way. Would it be better to connect off the analog connections of the dvd player to cd input of the receiver. If so, why?

It depends which one has the better DAC. If you want the receiver to convert the digital signal to analog, leave it the way it is. If your DVD player has a better DAC use the analog cables to the receiver and let the DVD player do the conversion. This is assuming that your receiver will let you do a direct analog pass-through. I'm not familiar with it so I don't know what it can do. If it can, try both ways and see what you like."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

The converters in the DVD player are 96 KHz/24-Bit Audio D/A and the Receiver has 192 KHz/24-Bit D/A converters for the front L&R channels. Am I too assume that hooking the dvd player up, for 2 channel music listening, I should use the optical connection from dvd to the receiver. By doing this I would be using the D/A converters in the receiver which are better. Am I correct here or should I be using the 2 channel analog outputs on the dvd player?JVC AV48WP30 Widescreen TV
