Heard the polk 360 system in a wide open best buy. Was so impressed I bought it.
Hooked it up and frankly it does not sound anything near what it did in the store.
Here is my question. Tv screen size is 56". The bar looks horrible in front of it, looks great underneath it. That is a 8 inch drop from the tv speaker placement.
The bar is tilted slightly up.
Would placement affect the sound?
Hooked up to the tv via hdmi, input from the sat box via optical.
One thing I did notice, only the dolby surround light ever lights up, never the dts, etc.
Any suggestions? It has to be something i'm doing wrong, as the set up in best buy was wide open,40 foot ceilings etc. I am adding a polk pro 400 sub when it comes in on thursday, would that help??

Thanks!

Placement may affect the sound- though the SB360 doesn't "bounce" sound off walls for the surround effect, it's still not immune to room acoustics.

Have you tried a DVD? Many times the sat programming (particularly on SDTV broadcasts) simply play a super compressed stereo feed and the surround effect will not be that impressive.

Also- check the settings on the sat receiver- you may have to make sure it's set to Dolby Digital output. Does Dolby DIGITAL (not surround) ever come on? Especially on HD channels (if you have it).

I don't know if you have Dish or DirecTV but in my experience DTS never lights up either from Dish sources.

    yes, everything is correct.
I will try above the tv position.
The optional soundbar bracket, will that work with the 360 or is it for the 50 only???

Optional "TV top" bracket is only for the 50 and regular SurroundBar.
