Polk is going to be around long after we are dead and gone...

    I don't see:
    1. Polk going anywhere.
    2. Polk getting into Magnolia, only because DefTech's already there, which is fine with me.
We all just have to weather this storm as best we can.

I do think Polk will survive the economic downturn. But I bet that at some point the lines get thinned down a bit, too many choices isn't good. I believe that three lines are plenty. I just wish that they would refresh the LSi's ASAP and in the process use better grade caps and such.

Tweeter was a huge seller of Polk products. I did polks almost daily. Mostly in wall or in ceilings but hell they where always polks.

I'm sure they will have to slim down a bit. maybe drop a few speakers. I don't see the Lsi's coming out anytime soon. Not now. Maybe next year or the year if things turn around.

Hopefully polk can get into some mom and pop shops like the one I work at. We already have Def Tech and to many other speaker brands. It wouldn't even make sense of us to pick them up. We already offer so many choices. But I can suggest at the next meeting if Speakers come up. We use mostly Paradigm for multi room and Def tech.

IMO the main difference THIS TIME is the 24/7 coverage by the talking heads. While there are things unique to this one, the fundamentals are not that much different that recessions of the past. In many ways it is becoming a self fulfilling economic doomsday prophecy. Everyone hears how bad it is, changes their behavior because of what they "hear" and their changes in behavior makes the situation worse. The talking heads decry more gloom and doom and more people start running scared and creating more problems. It will pass as all economic downturns do and life will go on. The economy may be somewhat different as some lessons are learned and others ignored...but it will continue and come back strong...until the next downturn/recession.

Then again there are the conspiracy theorist who say this is all a grand scheme by the financial autocrats to take over the world by manipulating the economy. Maybe they (the secret sect of financial manipulators) can work in concert with the aliens at area 51 and plan a party for 12-12-12. It could be a real blast.

I think Polk has developed a pretty loyal following of die-hard audiophiles, but other companies that come out with similar products for a much lower price(such as Fluance) will dig into their pockets. If they continue with top notch customer service i think they will be ok. As the saying goes "if we dont take care of the customer, someone else will".
