MIKE KOZAK: here is a blog about the MC275.....The original McIntosh 275 is the most desireable piece of vintage audio electronics originally available to consumers on the collector market today. Their value is substantially cosmetic and this unit should hold up much better than the original in terms of appearance, as it is stainless steel and is polished or quality triple-chromed (depending on version.) However, the circuit is simplified, the transformers are of a much less expensive construction method and the circuit is built substantially on one PCB, which has been proven troublesome in the past on guitar amplifiers and in Audio research and other very expensive high end amplifiers as well. Given the price of this unit I suggest spending a little more on a mint original, or a little less on a rusty one and having its chassis rechromed to CCCA standards by a automotive chrome shop......

I dont agree with it being the most desireable I still think the MC60s are....

If you want a nice matched pair of MC60s or ?? check out AUDIOCLASSICS web site, call Ryan and tell him the CHOCOLATE guy reccomended you..Hell set you up with some nice serviced amps.

SORRY one more quick post: If your just starting out with tube amps I suggest the MC240. I have one I used while the MC60s were being rewired ( Ill post the wireing images later tonight) the MC240 is a stereo and very low distortion (again audio classics has one) it wont take up alot of room (being its two channel) and it sounds great, I PERSONALLY took apart the slide control switch and bypassed the plastic circular plates that directed stero, mono etc. and I also took off the in line R L rca line filter and went straight from the R&L rca to the first leg of the signal connection on the circuit board inside, so the slide is not functioning and neither is the mono or stereo. only the LR is functionaing (this eliminated alot of signal hiss and crackel)

****DO NOT DO THIS unless you know how to work on these amps, the power in them rermains and even UNPLUGGED can kill you...***

Here is my MC240 that soon was replaced by the mc60s when they came back, I wont ever part with the MC240, even though not used its always good to have a nice spare stereo amp. and they are getting harder to find SO if you get one youll never loose as they keep going up in price...

Yeah, well, it's still a great song. Bit of a downer, though...

I love Linda Ronstadt:) I have a lot of her stuff on $1 vinyl;) I think I'll go spin it or Blue Bayou.

You need to listen to the original :-)
Warren Zevon's eponymous (which was not, contrary to common belief, his debut) album is outstanding.

Edit: He also was the one who wrote "Poor Poor Pitiful Me"

This is the one you want. Poor, Poor Pitiful Me and Mohammed's Radio are on it,too, as are the aforementioned Carmelita and The French Inhaler. The latter two songs are my favorite Zevon compositions (FWIW). A great, great talent he was.

This will sound great on one of those vintage Mac power amps (just to get back on-topic)! :-)

Confucious say: better a screw loose knowing where is goes then a screw that needs tightening but you have to screwdriver..
