Well got the New Iron Man DVD it is an awsome movie. I liked it alot. Actually bought it when it fisrt came out on DVD, when I was camping, and watched it on a 20 inch LCD. Could not wait to get home and watch it on the 52 inch Sony LCD and listen to it on my H/T system. Well I did that over the weekend. This is a TUFF movie to blend your Sub with. WOW. I have a DD15 and it is awsome and blends great at almost any volume. But Iron man,I have to turn the volume way down on the sub and the scenes when he trys to fly for the first time. Holy cow it will almost wants to shake the house apart even at low volume. I usually listen to the sub at 30 to 40 volume. I had it down to 20 and wow. Has anyone else watched this movie and noticed this .This is the first problem I have had since I got the sub. Any suggestions?

I have not watched iron man on the LR setup but on my BR setup it wasn't that bad. I don't think i had to turn it down any.
Now just two nights ago i watched 28 weeks later on the LR setup and OMG does that movie cause you to turn the sub down ALOT. I turned my sub all the way down to -10 and even went behind em and turned em down a 1/4 turn from already only being up to about 1/3 total volume. Movie was insane lol.

When I had the DD15 in my 2000 cube room, I never had the sub volume over 20 to stay calibrated with my mains. Lots of LFE in IM. If you're in a big room, then I can see having the sub gain between 30-40, but I'm thinking you're way too hot on the sub. Velos are so controlled and clean it might not sound like it, until something that's very LFE intense comes along.

Yes Camping, Ok OK camping in my New 32 Foot Travel trailer.( The wife wanted) But must admit ,beats tent camping by a mile. I went for three weeks and it rained a few nights so I went to Walmart and bought Ironman, The happening and Indiana Jone and the crystal skulls. I wanted Ironman on Blueray, But then I would have had to wait to watch it when I got home. I only have a Viola (I think that what it is) 20 inch LCD and a cheap DVD player in the camper. Any way I heard War of the worlds is hard on Sub woofers, I have that and will have to try it with the DD15. and 28 weeks later can't remember if I saw that, I will have to look it up and give it a try.

Whatever floats your boat; personally I go camping to get AWAY from the electronics and whatnot. If a tent is so bad why go camping at all?

Because with the camper, I can go further and stay longer at different places. And I don't have to pay RIDICULOUS Hotel fees. I still like local tent camping but for long trips and long stays nothing beats a Camper. Any way enough about camping this is about H/T and sub woofers.

Fair enough War of the Worlds is a FANTASTIC DVD for testing out your sub. I'm not a fan of the movie but it was still the first thing I threw in when I recently got a new sub.

My wife is senior buyer of a major movie distributor and she gets movies before they hit the big screen and we also watched iron man oin my high end multi channell system, she said as well as myself that this movie will never win best audio engeneering for an oscar, the production of that movies sound was FOR CRAP, you could never hear them talk then you turn it up then BANG when he lands it almost broke my fillings, its not you its the sound production, some one needed to oversee that who was not def

This isant gone with the wind Audio NUT this is ACTION PACKED THRILL RIDE of a movie that kicked A$$. Even at my house with my litte tinny tinnie psw10 sub shook the house with this movie it bottomed out a lot but hey I was enjoying it HAHA.

Wow that is what I am talking about Audio NUT. That movie was crazy I also was doing the same thing with the volume up and down. Then I was adjusting the sub and even at low volume it was just wrong. The movie was cool, but hell yea the sound was TERRIBLE. This movie even made me think I had to reclibrate my speakers, so I did and it still did not help. Then I tied Mr and Mrs Smith where they try to kill each other at thier house (GREAT SCENE). Well any way nothing wrong with my calibration that scene sounded awsome. I wonder how it would be on Blue Ray.

I thought the audio on SD was awesome. The bass was absolutely phenomonal, the only problem i had was my room rattles :eek:.

As for the dialogue i thought it was one of the best i have heard for a while. Everything was crisp and clear in the centre channel unlike a lot of other movies out there.

How many different audio tracks are on Iron Man? I can't believe so many people are hearing things so differently.

I have a sony BDP-S350 but am only using the coax out put to a receiver. Our local rental store is yet to rent Blu's so it was a SD dvd so was only listening to it in plain ol' DD

My gear is Parasound Halo A-51 amp and Halo C-2 controller, Velodyne DD-15 sub and the Polk Lsi15 fronts , Lsic and Lsi7 rears. All was hooked up using Quality connectors and wire. All other movies sound great on it. I don't know what it is about Iron Man except like Audio NUT said ,the production of the sound is CRAP. I don't think it is us ,it has to be the movie. I don't know how many different sound tracks are on Iron man. Others should rent it and tell us what they thought. Might see if the video store has it on Blue Ray and see if that is any different.

I thought it sounded great (both SD and Blu-ray). Two good points were when he leaves the cave and when the jerico missle blows up at the end of ch. 10. I prefer the blu-ray Dolby True-HD sound.

ALSO some may have their center channel lower, I tried mine and still we had trouble and had to turn up the volume to hear them talk, THEN BANG THUNDER BOOM we jumped on the remote to turn it back down when it was the action parts, There is a regulator you can buy to keep the volume constant BUT I tested it on the headphones, same thing, I guess its just personal taste...MY system is high end and when I watched other movies after iron man I have no issues, its the sound editing. its common for then to BUMP the bass booms explosions and the dialog down, some studios gamble on that WOW factor... ME I like my hearing and if im going to ruin it ill do it with Led Zepplin...I have had this happen with other movies she brings home BUT its more annoying having to sit with the remote and not my scotch

My wife is a firm believer than someone whispering in the center channel should be about the same volume as a gunshot or atomic bomb. It drives me nuts. Listening so conversations are about 70-75db and the loudest sounds in the movie are 90-100db will not cause hearing loss. (maybe a demo disk of just those loud sounds will, but not 5 or 6 90-100db blasts lasting less than 10 seconds each over the course of a 2 hour movie.)

The feature you are looking for is called night mode on most newer AVR's and only works with dolby digital signals.

To each his own, but I enjoy hearing a movie with good dynamic range where speach is easy to understand and when something blows up you look up to see if your roof is still there. The best part of watching movies to me is it sounding like you are experiencing everything with the characters on screen.

No, Have not seen that yet. I will have to see if it is available. Gotta love movies with AWSOME surround effects. So has anyone seen it and give a review. Hey is it always best to have your Sub up front. I have to have my sub right next to my left front Lsi15 so I feel the speaker woofer is blocked. I posted pictures at one point and it was mentioned how close they were. What other position would be good for a sub. No recomenadtion were ever given. I do loke the sub up front, It blends good I think. What locations do others have thier sub if not up front.

Try Gone in 60 Seconds, any newer war film, Shooter.., apocolypto.. theres a few other that sound incredible on blue ray

I have Iron Man on blu and thought it was awesome. Underworld 1 and 2 have awesome soundtracks. Good movies too.

I changed my living room around on Sunday. I was able to move my sub. I recalibrated everything after the change. I was having difficulty calibrating the sub to the room before. Now it is calibrated to the room. After it was all set up again, I tried Iron Man again. It was much much better. I still could not turn the sub up as loud as normally but big difference. Normally I turn the sub up to between 30 and 40 with Iron man still really could not go above the thirty mark when he tried to fly. But it was not much better. Sub positioning and calibrating make a HUGE difference. I also watched Kung Fu Panda and that was pretty good for a kids movie. I will have to rent Underworld, I love movies with good sound tracks. Santa claus any of the ones with Tim Allen I here so much more from my surround speakers since I got better speakers it is AWSOME.

Iron Man had some great scenes for testing the HT, but go have a look and listen to Hellboy2. Absolutely crazy in 7.1 dts-ma!!

Iron Man is currently my favorite movie in our Cinema. I've got RTi12's in the front biamped with 200w to hi and low, dual CS350 ls centers 200w each, fx50's on the sides 100w each and LSiFX rear 150w each. My sub is an infinite baffle 4 15" driver 1000w.. Samsung BD-P1400 into a Lexicon MC-1 I have watched the movie 6 times and have been nothing but floored by the soundtrack. Love my copy of IronMan.
