Yeah I'll definitely let you know what happens. This guy appears to be some sort of speaker anomaly. Here is an article about him as well as a link to his site if anyone is interested:

It's easy enough to buy generic kits on eBay or from other sources that are intended to replace damaged speaker driver surrounds.
Often, a person has a choice of foam or, at greater cost, rubber.
Problem, as I see it--aside from the labor involved, which I guess has to be done to a fairly precise standard at least on "live" drivers--is that there's no guarantee that the "new" surround material has the same physical properties as the original stuff. For example, If the new surround material is stiffer than what was intended, driver response will be altered.
How important this is, I suppose, depends on how far away from "correct" the new material is; and how close to optimum the original design was; and how picky the listener is. -

Back to the OP, which SDA's do you have? There were several different "2's".SDA SRS modded: Xovrd, de-polyed, inductorized, interconnectorized, re-posted, dynamited, RDOd, spiked, gasketed, ringed (Larry's), and grill cloth blinged! Done this on my own? Not a chance. Thanks to Raife and all who forged easy to follow upgrades. At least a 100% improvement in sound and my personal listening pleasure! :cheesygrin:Pass XP-10 preamp, Parasound A21 amp, Pioneer Elite DV-58AV (Ric Shultz modded), Audioquest Sky IC's, No longer need my Sunfire sub after mods... -

The original poster was 2 years ago. I almost asked the same thing.
Not sure why people dredge up old posts for there first ones all the time but I get caught to often. -

Hey, at least that means they're searching before posting. -
I expect it's because they're doing searches on whatever topic is on their mind; and when they find one that seems applicable, they add their post to the bottom.

Good point. Maybe we won't have to remind them there is a search function every other day. -

Oh, uhhhh, yeah.... Sure, I knew that...
Guess next time I'll look at the OP date before I pour through a thread.
But you have to admit it was a good question!:cool:SDA SRS modded: Xovrd, de-polyed, inductorized, interconnectorized, re-posted, dynamited, RDOd, spiked, gasketed, ringed (Larry's), and grill cloth blinged!
