Any Polk experts know if my SDA2B have real wood at the top and bottom. It sure does not look like or feel like the false wood on my other Polk speakers. These are the type with the black fabric cloth on the sides of the speakers.

I'm, not an expert, but bought a pair of the same SDA-2B speakers brand new on the last day of 1987. It's walnut veneer glued onto particle board. My serial numbers are R 14683 and L 14926.

Is your interconnect blade/blade or pin/blade?

I wish I would have known. I have a brand new blade / blade I ordered from Polk for my SDA SRS 2's that I've never even opened. I bought the SRS 2's in November without the IC, and then the seller found it when moving out and mailed it to me. Now I have 2 sets of blade / blade cabinets and 3 blade / blade interconnect cables.

Enjoy your 2B's, they are great in stock form, and can be upgraded to be one of the best ever, especially in normal sized rooms.

I ordered the RD0194 tweets from Polk. Can't wait to get them installed and broke in. After that, I'm going to try and upgrade the XO's. Then one day...a new amp...

Just now got to pulling out the woofers on these SDA-2B's and noticed that the black wire is "positive" and the white wire is "negative".

This seems opposite of most speakers.

Is this indeed correct or are mine wired wrong?

No one would know that here. It shouldn't be that hard to determine wood veneer from vinyl. Just grab an edge and tear the whole side off the speaker.

There are a bunch of wood veneered models of stuff that shouldn't even have wood veneer floating around....you never know with this place. Polk was filled with hippies in the 80's....still is.

I'll ask about the official answer tomorrow.

The RD0194-1 tweeters I got from Polk have one of the binding post painted Red.
I take it that this is "positive" and needs to be connected to the black wire?

I recently bought SDA 2b's about a month ago and swapped out a RDO 194 for a SL2000 tweeter. When you bought the RDO's it came with a paper stating this is a direct replacement for the SL2000 but it never says it is an upgrade. I decided to change one speaker with the RDO and the other leave with the orignal SL2000. I cannot hear any difference in tweeters. Can you hear a major improvement with yours.

I would listen to both speakers with original tweeters then listen to both with 194's, it will be easier to tell a difference.

The RD0194's sound much smoother and less harsh on my big ears.

I agree, and it's even more apparent with a crossover update.
