    Thanks,
Pretty sure they are 2Bs, they have the right cabinet. 2Bs are the last and best rev of the SDA2s. I've got a pair and like them a lot. Very wide soundstage, great bass, a little more forward than my 1Cs and the soundstage is not quite as tall. How they compare to the M12s, I couldn't tell ya. During a 2 channel comparison with the 1Cs, I couldn't really decide which I preferred. They are different, but both are great speakers. My son, however, pointed to the 1Cs and said it wasn't even close.

If the price is right and you really want to get a taste, you won't be disappointed. It might be that what these SDAs add won't be a huge improvement over the 12s...though most would still recommend them first.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B

Thanks Ron, For $215 they look like a good deal. Since they are on the east coast pickingthem up is a problem.

You've got the room for it. I'd wait for a pair of 1Cs, SRS 2s, 2.3s or 1.2s (TL if possible) to come up locally.

I'm in the transportation business and ship new audio products everyday. Adequate (in my mind) packing of SDAs is expensive, pallet(s), materials, removing drivers and boxing them and labor cost would run $150 - $250 depending on the model...add another $150 minimum for transportation and fuel and it ain't no bargain anymore.

Adding the TL upgrade to the 2Bs can make them a very formidable SDA and one that some people aren't willing to part with. I have the SRS 4.1TL with RDOs and they are fantastic speakers.

The pics the guy sent look great. I never thought to ask if any polkies had or would look at them. The shipping thing just kills it though.

I have talked with the seller recently and agreed to give them a good home if no one stepped up to buy before my next visit to Charlotte sometime next week.

I'm really looking for 2.3TLs or 1.2TLs but could give them a good home for a while. Go get them and save me the spousal abuse.....

With all due respect to Big Ron...I'd remove the the 1.2(TL) from that list. It's overrated and the other models mentioned are way more fun to play with....and easier to find. The sleeper is the SDA SRS 2 and the best performer is the 2.3TL. YMMV.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I think I have the SDA or SRS bug real bad, I am feverish, can't sleep and its all I think about.

The big SDA mentioned here would be great but the price is well, a lot right now.

I can afford something like the 2 Bs.

The question is would the 2 Bs be the medicine I need to put the bug at bay for a while or would I just be delaying the inevitable?

I recognize that is a subjective question and asking others to tell me what would be right for me, hopefully some of you have gone down this path and can share your experience.

Mark, I actually agree with you on the 1.2s, not that they are overrated. I haven't heard them long enough to make that decision. Just that they are so damn big and heavy you need to put them in a cathedral.

thsmith, for most rooms, 2B's should be sufficient. I definitely wouldn't turn them down.

Congrats. You will want the speakers about 6-8 feet apart, not toed in at all, at least 3 feet on either side, and 6-12 from the back wall. You should have your sweet spot about 8-10 feet back. All rooms are different, but those general guidelines are pretty solid.

Should I get them new RD0-194-1 tweeters from Polk? I did notice that these SL2000 tweeters in my SDA 2B's do not sound quite as harsh as the ones in my Monitor 10B's.
Do any of you know why?
Do the SL2000 tweeters sound worse with age or being driven hard?
Maybe just the crossover in the SDA is better?

Any input would be helpful and most appreciated. Thanks to all.

Any Polk experts know if my SDA2B have real wood at the top and bottom. It sure does not look like or feel like the false wood on my other Polk speakers. These are the type with the black fabric cloth on the sides of the speakers.
