I tried searching CP but with the 4 character min search restriction :confused: ...

Any opinions on Audioquest CV-4 dbs speaker cables (not IC)?
How about compared to the non dbs AQ Type 4?

Whats the difference between CV-4 and CV4.2?

How do the dbs models these compare to MIT?

Thanks

Whats very cool about Audioquest is that there entry level cables perform well. Every step you take up the ladder , you get closer to perfection.

The Type 4 cables are fantastic. If you have heard them , then you already know this. You can use them up to very high end speakers with a very nice setup and be very happy. Cv-4's are up the chain a bit and do sound better, not extreme but noticeable. I owned the cv-8 and I compared them to a lot of different cable including type 8 which is a fair compare for you. I found the Type series close but not as good as the CV series. Depending on price and your system, the Types maybe good enough. If you can afford no problem getting into CV series then yes go for it.

As far as MIT, they also make great cables. I owned a full system of Transparent which is very close to MIT. Both companies at one time was one in the same. Search if you want to learn about that and how both companies came onto the playing field. Compared to Audioquest, I perfer Audioquest. I have found there cables for me to be the best at any price. I for the first time in 3 years have had no desire to use anything else.

Good luck with your cable quest. It's fun, I have always enjoyed this.

I agree fully with everything he said except I have no experience with MIT's.
I now have CV4's DBS, type 4's, and my silvers on the highs. I feel no need to change this.

OK I picked up a pair of AQ CV4.2 speaker cables.
How do they work? They didn't come with a manual (or box).

I assume just press the button to turn on the dielectric bias. The light comes on then goes off right away. Not sure if I have dead batteries (they're supposed to be new unused-I haven't testd the batteries yet), or what.

If the light is supposed to stay on (as I suspect), how long does it stay on? Until I turn it off? Or does it turn off automatically after so long?

Does it need to be on all the time? Just when listening? Is the effect lasting or instant?

    Thanks

Believe you hit the button and if the light comes on the batteries are good. If It doesn't come on it's time for new batteries. I don't believe it is supposed to remain on however.

You are correct. If the LED lights up nice and bright the batteries are good. It is just a test button;)

The Type 4s will be my next cable upgrade (as long as a better deal doesn't hit me in the face :D). I have just heard nothing but good reviews for the cables, even from people how own cables 10x the price.

Doh, I missed this -- I was just sitting here saying-Ya know I know I asked a question I needed an answer to , what was it?....hmmm........took about 5 minutes of searching-just to figure out what it was that I asked. Man I'm brain dead anymore :o.

Thanks for the answers-- Cool at least they're not bad. So how long might these batteries last? I guess I should remove the batteries when not in use huh?
