JBL cf150. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these speakers, and if they are any good. I am looking for some speakers for parties for music and just to listen to that sound good at any volume.
Thanks
Thanks

I had a pair of these two years ago. BEWARE of tweeter issues. They blow easily and there are NO replacements or diaphrams to be had ANYWHERE. I had to substitute an eminence tweeter and use the existing bezel and driver mesh grill to keep them looking stock.
They're a good PA or DJ speaker but I wasn't really impressed with them for home listening at low to medium volumes. The 10w minimum power rating is a joke as it takes more than that just to make them make noise. Plan on a bunch of quality power to drive them.
Also, the cabinets could have been made a bit more solid. I ended up glueing and **** braces in all the edges and open sides to solidify the mdf. I also glued in some carpet padding on the large areas to minimize the inner reflections.
Long story short...I'd buy a quality speaker you don't have to work on to sound good. I was never happy with the sound from them but they will make a lot of loud noise when pushed hard. Sorry, you asked.

Those are party speakers and not much else. If I went to a yard where those were blasting, I wouldn't be at that party long.

Socaljeeper, from reading your posts about smoking speakers and wanting to play really loud, I would consider a much better power source than your receiver. You are asking for trouble IMO. Also, maybe you could get an SPL from Radio Shack (or amazon.com, etc ...) to check how loud you are trying to go. Few receivers will play well at 85dB and above. If you are trying to hit 90dB or more (educated guess), you really need external power amplifiers, or you will blowing tweeters on a frequent basis, no matter how good the speaker. JMO.

If you could find a pair of JBL L100's (Century), you will be very impressed. They are great for parties and for your personal listening pleasure. -
I just picked up a pair of the JBL 4312 studio monitor which is supposed to be the L100. Not my bag, but they do make a lot of sound. Classic West Coast sound.

They actually do come alive when you have some real power....not the most articulate sounding speaker, but they do get LOUD.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):
