My system is up in the showcase

Well I finally took the time to post my system up on the showcase. My next big investment will be in a flat panel t.v. I'm looking at the 52" Sony stuff right now but haven't decided on anything yet.

It seems that with anything over 52" the price makes a big jump. Rumour has it that with the economy the way it is, prices are supposed to drop even more because retailers are worried about poor sales this Christmas.

Anyway, the plans also include selling off the Bose amps and replacing them with all SAE stuff. Nothing wrong with them, I just want a more uniform look to the rack.

Look for Joeparaski and the "OVERKILL" system. Thanks and enjoy!

Right now it is ALL in use except for the equalizers. I've disconnected them for now and listen to music without them. At some point I'll put one back in and see if I hear any degradation in the sound.

Oh...I'm not using the reel to reel. I bought it on a whim because it looked absolutely brand new. It's hooked up and everything....but I don't have any tape.

Initially each speaker pair had an equalizer...both mains, the surrounds, and the center channel, hence the 4 equalizers. But like I said, they are all out of the loop for now.

I've got Nine Inch Nails blasting away right now downstairs....anyway, I got to get back down there and continue to get my listen on. It's nice to have a day off and basically jam away all day.

I think I spent about $5,000 on interconnects and speaker wire. Most of it from Audio Art.

Yes, the SRS are bi-amped with two SAE 2400's at 200 wpc each. The 2.3 tl's are bi-amped with two Bose 1801's at 250 wpc each and both pairs use SAE 2400 electronic crossovers.

The dual subs use the SAE 2500 at 300 wpc. The side surrounds use an SAE 2400 at 200 wpc. The center uses a Bose 1801 at 250 wpc. The side surrounds use the SAE Mark IVDM at 100 wpc.

To "me", the lights are not a distraction.

Did you have to install any type of cooling system behind your racks?

Hmm. Seems to me as though you might be underpowering your setup just a tad. But you can remedy that with the addition of a few more amplifiers.

The 4 SAE amps on the right rack have their own cooling fans built it. The 3 Bose and 1 SAE on the left have large cooling fins. I also have a large fan behind the whole shebang that I can turn on during more "spirited" listening sessions if needed.

I just had two movie scenes flash into my head when I saw those pictures...the first is the part from Christmas Vacation where Clark flips the switch on the Christmas lights and the meter outside starts to whir out of control. The second is the supercomputer in the cave in Superman 3 (the one that transforms the villian into a robot) :p

Very cool showcase Joe.....your overkill style suits me as well :D

One question though...sda effect...whats it like with the 2 pair of big boys side by side like that ????

Believe me...If I could shoehorn my 1.2's and 2.3's in the little mancave I would just for like you said...shock and awe.......I just now use my 2b's for rear surrounds. And using separate amps for every channel...in the winter time I just leave the ventilation system off and dont have to use the house heater . :) The 3 TC Sounds 15" subs under my feet are all I need for the shock and awe part though ;)

    Again....killer setup.....

You know what...if there was such a thing as liquid cooling for amplifiers, I'd probably consider buying it. Hmmm...I wonder....

Anyway, next thing I gotta do is to rewire the system in such a way as to make it look neat and organized so the back can look just a orderly as the front. This is definitely not a simple task and I've already rewired it several times as I've changed or upgraded various components.

Holy crap! I can't believe you sit in such close proximity to all those speakers!! And people call ME nuts???....go figure.

I don't usually run both sets of mains at the same time, mostly the SRS. I still haven't figured out how to control the volume up and down on both pairs at the same time, so I haven't paid close attention to the effect with both pairs running.

Right now, the 2.3's are set to zone 2 on the Emotiva pre/pro. This means that the volume to those is controlled separately from the SRS by switching to zone 2 on the remote. I suppose I could use "Y" connectors, but I'd rather avoid that because then both pairs would run at the same time. Sure, I could lower the volume on the amps, but I'd rather do it with the remote somehow without having to go to the rack.
