XRt12 XM Tuner problem

Hi folks!
This seems like a great place for tech advice so here we go...
We've had a XRt12 XM receiver in service here at our cafe for a few years now, and within the last few weeks it's started turning itself off at random times throughout the day. It'll do this maybe six times over a twelve hour period. I thought it might be overheating--so i built a improvised cooling thing to allow more airflow--but no difference. (Fwiw it had not been getting very hot anyway.)
We turn the unit off every evening, and on again in the morning. We have had no other issues with the unit. Is there anything I'm missing here? Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks!

KP

Uh, yeah... I thought of that.. uh... sure...

Of course that makes complete sense-- I'll do it during business hours.

    Hello,
Thanks for posting on the Forum. When you say the unit is turning off, do you mean the unit goes into a standby mode? Or, is the sound interrupted? If so, what is the signal strength on the upper right hand section of the front display?
    Regards, Ken

Thanks Ken--obviously I haven't called yet! The unit shows "full bars" indicating a strong reception signal. The turning off part involved a sudden complete loss of power, after which you can just push the on/off button and restart the unit. It does this randomly maybe three to six times a day. Fwiw the unit is on a stable circuit (plug).

    Hello,
Thanks for the additional information. That is quite an unusual problem, most of the time when the tuner's sound goes on and off, for a split second, it is because the signal strength is too low. But you are having the complete unit shut off. I suppose a problem in the power supply could be the cause. In any event you would want to package up the tuner and send it to: Polk Audio, 2550 Britannia Blvd., Suite A, San Diego, CA. 92154. Please include a short note giving us your name, address, a description of the problem and a daytime telephone number.
    Take care, Ken

I know I'm late to the party by about 12 months, but it does have an auto turn off feature under the menu. Make sure someone didn't accidentally turn it on.
