SDA SRS 2 Bass Tone Down Help

Sorry, It is the 2A model I'm getting and not the B model. They already have the upgraded tweeters in them.

Is there any way you could reset your system so the speakers face down the 17 ft side? I have never had the sdas work well facing the long side. If your seating position is against a wall the bass will be loud. The original srs and srs 2 have more bass than the 1.2tl and 2.3 tl in my opinion,I have had sda-srs and 1.2tl side by side, kept the originals because of the bass. I have original srs in a 13 x 23 room sitting 10ft back speaks 2 ft from wall with no overbass problems,if you move to the rear wall it is another story. I also have 2.3 tls, bass is low compared to the original srs,I notice the 2.3 uses a weighted passive so that may work for you. Before I get flamed by 2.3 owners the 2.3s seem to have the refined high end sound a lot of people are after, the bass is well controled at low levels but will flat kick arse with a lot of power,I just moved them to a 15x40 room and they sound very nice. I see you mentioned the crs+,they do not work well close to the back wall if you do not like bass,I have 2 sets of crs+ and have a set sitting right next to the 2.3tls and at low to mid levels the bass is as good as the 2.3,but as you turn up the volume the 2.3s take over in the bass department. Believe it or not the crs have a wider soundstage than the 2.3tl but the 2.3 sound better when you are in it,time to mod the crs. I say find some 3.1,or 2.3tls,you will be happy.

I drove to Harry's today and made a partial trade of SDA 2A's for his SRS 2's. They sound fantastic! Thank you Harry for the 2's, and I hope you like the 2A's. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

I miss the big SRS but the 2As sound well balanced and a good fit in the small room. They're very detailed and work well here.
Glad the SRS fit your application good too. I've never ran into a speaker I couldn't tweak out to perform adequately. The SRS and my room were like Jack Sprat.... -

this is very cool. i am anxious to hear what you both thought of the new speakers you now have in the swap.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Speaking for myself only I am happy with the sound of the 2As in here now. They are definitely better sounding in this room. The SRS is a killer speaker but I choose poorly with my limited available space. I did NOT know anything about them vs room size. Learned a good lesson.
I'm very happy. I snipped off the polyswitches, soldered the leads together and I just got finished changing out the SS for tube power and the sound is "WHAT I WANTED" from the SDA line.
Good for me!

Glad to hear it Harry. The SRS 2's are awesome in this room and will be more so when I move into a bigger place. I played "Crumbling Down" by John Mellencamp to see what the lower end could do on these, as it is a very "hot" recording on cd. The bass on these things is phenomenal. I am also happy the Anthem pre relaxes the sl2000 tweeter significantly. I'll probably put the RD0's in these some point as well, but for now I have no problems.ChrisPreamp: Anthem Pre 2L (Jan-Phillips Green) Processor: Marantz SR7012 Amp: B&K 200.5Streaming: Bluesound Node 2IDAC: Eastern Electric Minimax Plus4K Bluray: Panasonic UB820Mains: Von Schweikert VR2Center: Von Schweikert LCR15 Subs: 2 SVS Sb13 Ultra (HT Only) Analysis Plus Cables

I didn't have a problem with the SL2000s either. It's probably so much bass in them it hides their traits. LOL!
I DO like the upgraded tweeters in the 2As. They have a little of the Peerless characteristics more so than the newer tweets.
THese 2As will kick some serious arse in this small room. I've got plenty of adjustment as is on controlling tone either way. I don't have to compromise like before. I've played out some of my heavier bass recordings now with no issues. These work excellent in here.
Granted the big SRS are WAY prettier but I'm into the sq more than looks. If I was into looks I'd get a haircut and go on a diet. Thanks again,

After listening for a longer duration, it is an interesting comparison to the 2A's. I think the 2A's had a bigger, or as big a soundstage. However, the SRS 2's sound have a fuller sound with a different virtual seating position. With the 2A's, I felt that I was in about the center of the crowd. With these, I feel like I am in the center, but in the front couple of rows. The sound is definitely much more forward. I am using Allison Moorer's "Show" SACD as a comparison basis, as it is probably my most listened to album (a definite buy for you SACD fans, by the way). I have seen her live and feel the SRS 2's are a little more life like to what I remember.ChrisPreamp: Anthem Pre 2L (Jan-Phillips Green) Processor: Marantz SR7012 Amp: B&K 200.5Streaming: Bluesound Node 2IDAC: Eastern Electric Minimax Plus4K Bluray: Panasonic UB820Mains: Von Schweikert VR2Center: Von Schweikert LCR15 Subs: 2 SVS Sb13 Ultra (HT Only) Analysis Plus Cables

By the way, I promised pics, so here they are. Included is a pic of the electronics, because I don't think I posted one yet.ChrisPreamp: Anthem Pre 2L (Jan-Phillips Green) Processor: Marantz SR7012 Amp: B&K 200.5Streaming: Bluesound Node 2IDAC: Eastern Electric Minimax Plus4K Bluray: Panasonic UB820Mains: Von Schweikert VR2Center: Von Schweikert LCR15 Subs: 2 SVS Sb13 Ultra (HT Only) Analysis Plus Cables

They look good in there Chris. You're right, the height is good with the tv. Wish I'd had the room for them. They even sounded big.
BTW, I listened to the 2A for a while before I snipped and bridged the polyswitches and I noticed little if any difference in the 2As. When I jumped the SRS polyswitches there was a very noticable difference. If you're a bit short on top end you might want to replace or jump the polyswitches on them. They were definitely showing wear and age.
Thank you again. It was a good match for both of us.
Also, it was nice meeting another Chi Sox fan. I enjoyed our meeting.

Ditto Harry, and regarding the White Sox; notice the World Series Championship banner in the top right hand corner of the last pic!ChrisPreamp: Anthem Pre 2L (Jan-Phillips Green) Processor: Marantz SR7012 Amp: B&K 200.5Streaming: Bluesound Node 2IDAC: Eastern Electric Minimax Plus4K Bluray: Panasonic UB820Mains: Von Schweikert VR2Center: Von Schweikert LCR15 Subs: 2 SVS Sb13 Ultra (HT Only) Analysis Plus Cables
