Whats up all???

I picked up the brand new Macbook Pro. It's beautiful and very very light. The new mouse or track pad is awesome. It's better then you think. I also really like the black keys with the back lights. It really makes a huge difference. Like all mac's, I got it up and running it like 5 minutes. Ready to go right out of the box.

I was looking at the older models now that they are on sales. I could have got the 2499.99 older model for 1799.99. I was sweating but the new trackpad made the difference.

I'll snap some pic's later. Surfs up!!!!

Can't wait to see some pics. I have no interest in converting to Mac, but I really like a lot of what they did with the new MacBook, mainly the aluminum case and the glass trackpad.

    Congrats!

It's a glass trackpad but it has silver paint on it. Matches the case. The case is seem less. Attention to detail is above average . I'll take some tonight.

    Ok...

I gotta ask. I am supposed to be buying a laptop for a birthday present soon, and have done a little searching around Microcity and the such. I don't want to spend over $750 really, since it will mostly be used by a lady who wants to write a book and surf online stuff.

Any suggestions? New probably, and would like it to be a 64bit system I think. Anything else I should be looking for?

*Not trying to hyjack thread, just didn't want to start another entire one due to snooping bodies.. hehe*

    Cheers!

If all your gonna be doing is writing a book/surfing the web, just cut your budget in half and get something used off craigslist. I don't see the point in wasting money on a machine that will rarely be used to it's potential.

Nice. I'm not a fan of the glossy screens but lately I've been working on iPhone applications so I may move to one of the new MacBooks or MacBook Pros.

    2.4GHz
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    15-inch widescreen
    2GB Memory
    250GB hard drive1
    NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB

The Led screen is nice but I really like the black keyboard with the backlight. Its really nice in a dark room. The new trackpad is pretty killer, I like being able to click where ever I feel like. I set up a right click in the bottom right corner. It also work alittle like my Iphone with the 2 finger things. I like the pic's ability.

The only thing I hate it the damn aluminum scratches so easily! I know plastic scratches easily too so if it were a dell it would get scratches up too but with something as pretty as that it's nice to keep it scratch free for as long as possible and sometimes that's a hard thing to do.

*Typed on my macbook pro* lol

I am not Dan; but here's how to enable it:

system preferences -> trackpad -> check secondary click and select bottom right hand corner from the drop down list.

I have a MacBook that is a couple of months old....will this work cause when I went to the track pad...then to secondary click there is no drop down window. The only line that say secondary line states says "Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click"....I'm lost:eek:

I am Dan and this is how you do it. remember this is the steps on the brand new Laptop Macbook Pro with the new no button trackpad. You also can do it with the older with 1 button trackpad.

Just play around with system preferences then trackpad or mouse then setup the secondary button which will be the right click action.

I figured I'd give alittle update now that I have owned it for a few days.

    1) The trackpad is a little to get used to. You have to figure out the right pressure to click anywhere on the screen. At first i didn't want to press to hard. Now I got it and it isn't a deal. The right click work excellent in the bottom right corner. I use the left bottom corner as if it was still a button pad. Old habits dies hard I guess but I'm adding in the technic to use anyway clicking. I can use one hand and point then click. thats pretty damn cool.

    2) Battery. I have charged it up day one and it's running right now at 58%. Amazing long battery life. I never got a battery to last this long. I have not done any extensive programs or hard games with Intense graphic's but **** man this battery lasts for ever. I gotta have 4 hours or more on it.

3)keyboard. I'm still in awe over the backlighting. It's something I believe all keyboards should have. Especially if you have ever typed in the dark and don't exaclty know every single key without looking. I look, there I said it , So the back light is a blessing to me. The keys are also soft and easy to type on fast. I love it. it's kinda like my Imac Wireless keyboard. But the black keys feel alittle different. I like it better. I hope Apple releases a back lit black Blu tooth keyboard like this one for the Imac. that would be cool and I would get one.

    5) Speed. Everything flys. It don't have much on it yet but like my other 2 mac's , they don't slow down like Pc's do when you start loading up the hard drive. Even my sons Mac mini is loaded up and runs as fast as the day I got it for him. Amazing.

6)Price. Well what can you say, if you want better you have to pay better. I wasn't exaclty cool with spending over 2g's on a laptop right now but my HP was going bad and I Program at work and need a solid laptop. Sure I could have got a Windows based Laptop but I couldn't bring myself to walk that path again. I hate with a passion Pc computers and glad I don't have to use the last 2 I own. We are all Apple here and I'm happy about that. That to me means no more hours fixing and figuring out why the hell doesn't these damn computer work right? Reinstalling windows once a year just to keep it fresh and working. I'm sure not everyone has as many problems with there Pc's but I have 2 kids and a wife who all surf and use all the computers in the house . Someone is always on one or all of them. Since we switched to Apple, I have not had to fix a computer.

    7) Build quality. It's solid but it's so thin. I'm kinda afraid of it. I'm so careful when I pull it out of my laptop bag. I don't think it will get damaged but damn it's thin. Fit and finish is top notch and nothing short of what you would expect from any Apple Product. The silver is very nice and the screen is clear and bright.

Overall I think it's a really well designed laptop. it works for me and I'm happy to own it.

Gary, you have one generation (with button) before the latest release (no button) MBP. It's only let you do two fingers...
