There are many remotes on the market. The harmony remotes are ok but I don't perfer them. I perfer the Universal remotes like the mx850 , mx900 , mx950 , mx880 , mx980 , I don't care for the mx300 as I have seen to many battery and screen problems.

Right now I'm waiting on the mx6000. It has the ability to control over IP , RF and IR. Thats badass. Not many remotes can do all 3. It's base station in the MSC400 is killer combo. Not to mention IP control. I love it. I plan on getting on as soon as they come out.

Also Lighting control they now have in RF which is way cool. I like the Radio Ra system from Lutron as it's really good but expenisve. Universal now has there own RF control lighting which I can see working very well. I also plan on trying out a few switches and swapping out a few on my current Lutron system for a try.

Check them out. You may like what you find. If not the Harmony are a good do it yourself remote.

If you want to find out about certain remote controls the link below I found to be not only unbiased but very in depth with it's reviews. That's how I ended up with the one I have.

I'm afraid I might need to investigate that remote a bit further. I need to see that the buttons are actually going to be large enough to operate with and that the screen is legible.

I've always found those remotes to be unreliable, and with a limited ability to learn new components. Those remotes are generally the reason one needs to upgrade to a universal remote in the first place.

But it is a nice looking remote.

    Olkie-polkie...

Just joined. For you and others, the URCMX3000 is obviously a great remote. Very happy w/it. Though I did have to plunge for a new remote control battery a little sooner than expected (!).

People, this is a good spot: www.batterytex.com

I looked around -- they have good prices. Got it right away, &tc.

Well considering that he dug up a 9 month old thread to recommend a 4 year old remote that just may happen to need a battery from his recommended place, I'd say it's an obvious scam.
