Harman Kardon, KLH, Yamaha, and Polk sales event

I really appreciate my wife’s tolerance to this point, but even I realize that I have to move some things out that we just don’t have space for.

(2) Harman Kardon PA2000 Power Amplifiers - 45 x 4, or 90 x 2 continuous. 4ohm stable. Outstanding CHEAP amplification. Both in superb condition and used sparingly. Amps can be cascaded for a whole house system. At least one of these was picked up from RuSsMaN here on the forum. $125 each, or $225 for both.

Pair of KLH model 10 speakers that are in pristine condition and rare. The grill cloth needs a little cleaning or replacement because it is the off-white stuff. I played these only about an hour. Not only are they in such great cosmetic shape, they sound very clear and accurate. This was another quality transaction from RuSsMaN – where does he find all the great stuff? I just don’t have space for them and the wife wants the guest room cleared out. I don’t remember what I paid, but $75 is pretty close and that’s what I would like to get.

12" sub woofer (driver only) Eminance brand from Parts Express - I put about 10 minutes of play time on this one. This one came in an Electro Voice folded horn, corner cabinet that I got from, you guessed it, RuSsMaN. I pulled it out when we refinished the cabinet and I ended up putting in an SVS I had left over from an upgrade. Although I couldn’t tell a difference between the two, I never switched them back. This driver is almost brand-new and is worth every penny of $35.

The following Yamahas have a real coolness factor. They have impressive wood cabinets, silver faceplates, lots of switches, and the clean clear sound that is Yamaha’s trade-mark.

Yamaha CA-800 integrated amp in excellent condition. I picked this up dead about 6 months back (from a former forum member) and had the power supply replaced and the amp was fully serviced. It sounds great; I just don’t have space for it. The repairs ran me $150, but that was only worth it if I was going to keep it. These go from $100 to $200 on the bay, but I don’t want to go that route. I think $125 is a steal for this near-museum quality piece.

Yamaha CA-610 II integrated amp in good shape, not perfect as the bass knob is a little bent. I picked this up about 2 months back here on the forum for $30 from hoosier21. Worth every penny of that and it would be a great garage or guest room system.

Yamaha CT-1010 tuner in good shape, just not show-room quality; it is nice and clean but the wood case has some rubs. This one came from e-bay from here in Texas and I over-paid ($150) because they just don’t come up for sale that often. The CT-1010 is considered a pretty darn good tuner (see fmtunerinfo.com for details) and will go in the range of $85 - $135. Once again, I just don’t have space for it and will cut my losses and let it go for $75.

Always finish with a bang…Polk Monitor 7’s in the best shape you will find anywhere. These are labeled 7B’s, but RuSsMaN says they have the revered Peerless tweeters. I can tell you they sound fantastic and are everything people say they are. The only problem is I have them in my exercise room on stands. The first time our 4 year girl was doing those somersaults and came close to one of them, the wife flipped a lid. I either need to trade these for some towers (like LS-50s or 70s), or get about $125 for them (with stands). I actually prefer a trade so there is less input/scrutiny over the replacements. These specimens are worth twice that. Let’s not ship these; they are far too nice for that. Bundle some of the other gear above and propose a trade to replace these with towers.

I would prefer local pickup on all items, but would ship CONUS if needed. I am in Houston and could deliver to DFW or even Austin and anywhere in between.

I will post pictures as needed, but as I would prefer local pickup for you to inspect the merchandise and be 100% satisfied with it. That would also give me a chance to sell you some stuff you didn’t come over for. I’ll even accept PayPal.

Dave, ol' buddy, ol' pal... can I request transient dibbies on that CA-1010 whilst I confer with the lovely Mrs. H? Given the current economic climate (and the antique radio fleamarket in Manchvegas, NH this Saturday), she might be loath to see me spend on long-distance stuff I don't need :-)

For the benefit of younger Forum members for whom Power Rangers is vintage entertainment, may I add that this is a very cool collection of some fine stuff.

EDIT: The CA-800 running in Class A mode is one of the better-sounding SS amplifiers you'll hear regardless of price or vintage... fortunately I already have one! :-P

RuSsMaN has always treated me right with package deals and such, I am just passing these along at a Polk-forum appropriate price.

PM returned. Good question asked - can one of these HK amps be used as a passive sub amp? Actually, I do this with one of these in my 2 channel setup.. I only use one channel, but I have a question - could a person use a y-connecter to the left and right inputs and run speaker cable to both outputs and get twice the output? Or, are we messing with the ohms?

I haven't broached the tuner to Mrs. H yet (he said, sheepishly). Spent a leedle too much at NEARC this past weekend did I.

If someone else wants the CT-1010, have at... if it's still available (and I clear the purchase on the home front); I'll get back to you by PM.

sorry to be such a wuss...

Your 7B Monitors are EXACTLY what I am looking for. I have a WANTED posted right now looking for these speakers. My problem is that I live in Connecticut and am not close to you. I will gladly pay to have these properly shipped/insured if you would agree to sell them to me. Condition is very important to me and that is why I am responding. I promise you that they will get a good home. Please work with me to make this happen.

    Nope.
Gonna sell a set of 12Bs (will not ship them) and wanted 7Bs. I am not a fan of 10s. Thanks for reply.

Not Polk monitor 10s, KLH model 10s. Perfect for a guest room rig. Too nice for the garage, though.

May I just add that this man (Dave Muell, that is) does about the most expert, elegant, and professional packing that I have seen in over a decade of scrounging/buying/bartering hifi gear. Neat and superb packing.
