Another Possible Ridiculous Question

RTi8's are practically being given away right now....so I was thinking if it would be ridiculous to stack them? I would leave the feet off the second pair and brace it from the back....also reinforcing the bottom feet for more support. Amp would be running around a 4ohm load with 4 8ohm speakers to 2-channels.

    You should ban yourself immediately.

This forum does not take well to radical ideas of pseudo-audio-philes who call themselves 'stackers' :) Do a search on stacking LSi9s and similar and you will soon see what kind of reaction you get if you pursue this slippery idea ... LOL.

I was thinking about doing it because I like to listen to my music LOUD. I'm fairly happy with the sound of my speaks.

The other posts were about stacking bookshelves on top of towers. Now that's ridiculous!

Maybe I should just get SDA's.

Stacking as you described would be okay as long as you gutted the bottom RTi8 speaker, filled it with sand, and then placed the other RTi8 on top and elevated your listening chair about 3 - 4 feet from the floor.:D

Stack away. It's your stuff, money, and ears. If you like it then yes, if not, then no.

The reason I was actually thinking about this idea:
I may be buying my in-laws house - the wall where the TV is going is 25-30 feet high (ranch). The room is about 800 sq ft.

Damn, thats exactly what I was considering doing (stacking LSiFX on top of LSi15s for the rear surrounds).
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

    I agree
    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

Give it a shot. I doubt it will be that great for critical listening, but then again - that may not be what you want. If it sucks, you can always use them as rear surrounds....
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

How would you stack them - Tweeters to Tweeters (top RTi8 updside down) or both right side up?

You might as well save the money you would spend on 2 pairs of Rti8s and get something meant to give BIGGER sound without stacking ...

But if you are still interested read SlowCar's discussion with members on the subject ...
