Squeaky 2.3 Driver

I have a pair of the SDA 2.3 speakers that have the donuts on the top and bottom drivers of the outer columns. At higher volumes, they make a squeaking sound (both speakers). It's not a fuzzy sound like a blown driver. Initially I thought it might be loose grilles, but after removing them I placed my hand on the donut at volume and the squeek went away. At moderate volumes it disappears. Has anyone had this issue before? If they need replacing, I'm pretty sure I'd have to go with the updated driver. My concern is am I going to have to rebuild the crossovers too for the new drivers?

I think your problem is that the donut is separating from the cone.

Do you know if that's something that's repairable, or is it new driver time? My silicone, soldering, and JB Weld skills only go so far.

I would contact Polk customer service and see if they have dealt with this problem before. I would think it would be repairable, but the wrong adhesive might damage the cone.

It was glued on to begin with, so you can reglue it, if that is the problem. You can't buy a new driver, so you better hope it's repairable.

    LOL @ the JB Weld.

F1-Does Polk carry a driver that could be used in it's place?
