PSW650 question...

I have three (yes three) Polk PSW650 subwoofers in my main room. The PSW650 has the volume control on the front faceplate right beneath the Polk Audio logo. The problem I have is that a couple of them are a bit hard to turn. There is a bit of friction when adjusting the volume and I am afraid that the volume pots may eventually break or go bad. Is there an easy way to access the pots to lubricate it with Caig's Gold? The front panel is a gloss piano black finish which easily shows any flaws and i do not want to damage it.
On a side note... while the PSW650 can deliver a lot of bass, it does not really go down that low (realistically, about 35Hz). It gives some slam but it does not have that deep bass impact like my old Sunfire True Subwoofer II (which crapped out) did. Why three subs? I figure that with three subs you do not have to drive them that loud to get the same bass output. That way, they do not get overdriven into distortion for the same volume. Also, more subs makes it easier to balance out the bass levels in the whole room. With one sub, there would be some areas with dead spots or no bass and conversely, some areas with excessive bass. Spreading out the subs in the room can compensate for any room acoustic issues...
