Perhaps a round of LSi would ease the pain. But would I see much improvement from my current RT gear?

Hi there Ethan, good to see someone from my neck of the woods on the forum. I also have the 2.3's and Love the things, too bad the guy was a D-Bag because they would have been worth buying for the right price and installing some of the silk tweeters.

I have mine set up in a 2-channel system for music listening, and I'll never get rid of 'em. I listen to them so much that I don't even use my SDA-CRS's anymore.

Sounds like a good deal. I may have a pair of 2.3 TlLs for sale soon as I am getting another pair of SRS SDAs so I will have 4 of them in the 5.1 MUSIC system. If you had 4 it would be a perfect match and also sound awesome.
    Good Luck, Phil

    Ethancf -

I can understand your impression of the seller of the 2.3s here in Boise. He certainly is set in his opinions. I found it amusing that he felt the current B & W Nautilus speakers were "junk". As for me, I believe listening to be purely subjective to the listener. One man's junk being another man's treasure as it were. After some hemming and hawing I bought the 2.3s he had for $545. I'm using them in a 5.1 home theater setup with the NAD T775 receiver, Paradigm CC-370 center channel, and a pair of B & W DM602 S2 rear speakers. I'll be making an interconnect cable for the speakers and you're more than welcome to have a listen to them in that setup if you like.

On a separate note, I've taken the REL Storm III sub that was in my HT setup and put it with my 2 channel setup (B & W 803S speakers, Rotel RCD-1072 CD player, Musical Fidelity A1008 amp, and a Richard Gray PC 400s). I'm considering the JL F113 or F112 subwoofer to go with the Polks in the HT setup. Anyone have any other input on subwoofers that go well with the old SDA's?

    They don't need a sub.

agreed... at one time I thought I wanted to integrate a sub.. but not anymore. the higher up the ladder i get my gear.. the more bass is brings out. no way I would ever try to add a sub right now.

last night the floor was vibrating from so much bass.. and no I didn't have the bass knob maxxed out. :p

Either JL or the larger Velo SPL's would work fine. Why do you feel you need a sub though, is it for home theater only?

The system with the Polks is home theater only. Okay, I also admit to playing Xbox 360 games on that system as well. I know the base response is phenomenal on the speakers, but don't some of the movie formats (THX, Dolby, etc.) separate the low end for use in a .1 system? I've had a few sets of the Polks over the years starting with the SDA 2, then the 2.3TL, some Monitor 10's, and some SDA 1C's and have never considered adding a sub, but they've always been in a dedicated 2 channel stereo setup. In the HT arena I'm afraid I know just enough to be dangerous.

Yeah, if you're using it for home theater only, you will want to use a dedicated sub for the ".1" channel. I agree with others that the Velodyne will work well.

Congrats on the 2.3's, I have the exact same speakers in the "man cave"... these things are hard to find in little ol' Meridian... :)
