why are you charging 160 $ shipping now vs 60 dollar shipping in july when you were selling the rti a7 speakers. just curious

i know frys from westcoast ships a pair of rti8's for 30 dollars from west coast to east just for comparison

It's probably because that's how much it actually cost to ship it. I shipped a pair of
RTI A5 to a member on here and it cost about $90 bucks to ship. A couple months ago they were charging $50(rtia5) $60(rtia7) and $60 (rtia9) then the prices on shipping started to go up which they should. They were selling their products at a big discount plus lossing on the shipping costs. With the way gas prices go up it may be even higher in the future.

Alot of company's like FRY's and Tweeter eat alot of the shipping costs to sell more product and make it more appealing to the customer. On alot of FRY's TV they offer free shipping.

Let me ask you a question then. If I buy a pair of speakers from you are you going to pay for the shipping? I don't think so. Same rules apply. Most people will not even pay the $4 or $5 for insurance if the buyer didn't.

That's why people buy local so they don't have to worry about the high shipping costs. That's why CRAIGLIST is getting very popular.

I recently bought an item in FLA and ask to have the item droped of at a UPS Store. I have an account at work. I ask how much a 50lbs package to WI from FLA would be, They said 62.00 I told them that I would check to see what our rate would be through our account and it was $21.23. Companies don't loose on shipping. The rates that companies get you will never see.

Yeah, right; funny, coming from someone that wants to get warranty from non authorized sellers :rolleyes:

Polk Direct does not charge $160 for shipping speakers. The most expensive right now is at $90 for the RTiA5 (which by the way are being offered at a great price). RTi10's are shipped for $60.

I think I know who's being retarded here.

Let me explain something...if you ship 1 cubic ft of brick compared 1 cubic ft of feathers, should they cost the same? Shipping companies use tiers when shipping (average product weight) and that's how they come up with the cost. Companies that ship all the time will get a better discount. Everything in this country is based off of volume. Should you get the same price that Fry's gets on Sony TV's?

Whoever thinks shipping is retarded, well....no comment

If a company just "passes" along a shipping charge to an end user, then they are dumb. Plain and simple. There are costs involved....packing material, packaging, shipper's time, warehouse, etc

They can charge what ever they want. Its up to you to buy it or not. Even with $160 shipping their prices are the lowest around.

You can just feel the love in this thread ! I am not sure insulting a forum member (who is not employed and/or paid by Polk Audio) with more than 6000 posts since since 2005 is a very good way to get yourself welcomed when you joined just this month and have only 12 posts, mostly about trying to buy stuff cheap, probably not legally, to set up an eBay store so that you can sell the same stuff as an unauthorized distributor and try to force the manufacturer to honor the warranty.

Rather than complain about rising shipping costs, why not figure out why gasoline is almost $4 these days, instead of $2 a year or so ago, even though none of the associated production costs have doubled in that time? Or why airlines are suddenly charging for bags when they didn't before?

You're not likely to buy any Polk speakers any time soon in my opinion, so if you're going to rude to forum members, you will end up being reported to the moderators. They only have so much tolerance for that kind of aggressive behavior.

    Good luck with your quest.

+1. The original post reads like a personal e-mail to Matthew Polk himself.
