there's a reason these ****' auction ended early...;)

I GOT THEM! and the seller wasn't kidding. i'd have to rate these badboys as a smooth 9/10 due to age alone. not a single scratch or stain or rip in the fabric, wood or drivers.

i have to thank courtney/szhleppy for allowing me to 'store' his sda-srs's for the past month. now they are back with their rightful owner. HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM, COURT? betcha you won't even think twice about going back to your lsi 9's...

anyway, i'm not sure quite yet if i'll do the upgraded tweets as the tl's seem to tame some of the harshness i heard from the sl1000/2000's or whatever they are. but i can imagine how everyone's recommendations of upgrading tweets and replacing the caps and resistors in the older, hell, ALL models' crossovers will completely refresh these beasts. i've heard some of ya'll claim BETTER THAN ORIGINAL, and i can imagine that so.

anyway, definately a sign of the times these beasts sat on craigslist phoenix since august 31 and no one has snatched them up. this price... for pristine condition? for me, it was a no-brainer. $1500.00 and i'm out the door!

anyway, please add me to the sda-owner fanclub! hey, thank you mr. matthew polk!:D

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

thanks face. c'mon leroy jr. you know you want some! anyway, snow, no doubt! i've been here at polk for awhile now and only just now started to venture into this subforum "vintage speakers" and i now get what it is ya'll are drawn to in these old speakers and vintage audio. and DON'T anyone try to get me started on vinyl. only reason is because i don't want to go out and spend money on trying to find records.

i also want to thank a few members here at the forum. first and foremost, I-SIG/wes for turning me on... to sda's, not anything else :p:rolleyes:. get your minds outta the gutter. and also to szhleppy/courtney, for allowing me to use his sda-srs's until i decided to keep them or drive them up to phoenix for him to keep.

i also want to thank the following for their helping me understanding amps and the common ground issues...F1nut/jesse, Darqueknight/raife, heiney9/brock, ben62670/ben, hoosier21/russ, dorokusai/mark, jdhdiggs/james, lazereath and his website, george daniel/george, god, and anyone else i might have forgotten to mention. (i suppose this is my celebratory speech or some shitt)

anyway, thanks to the forum and its members. there are a buncha good and helpful polk folk here. and i owe all of you for making me spend more money than i should on this hobby. or perhaps you all owe me. i haven't figured that one out yet.

yeah, looks like those amps are gonna have to be put on hold awhile. but no kidding, my "whopping" 125wpc reciever honestly makes these sing beautifully. soon i'll have to grow some large ones and ante up for some real power to drive these even better. but quite frankly, they sound SUPERB with what i'm feeding them now.

not sure yet, but been eyeing three pairs of adcom 565 monoblocks from the fine members here. but now those plans have to be put on hold awhile. gotta recover from the speakers money. the REAL question is, "why am i sitting on the forum vs listening to my speakers???"

yeah, i didn't bring the camera. but i'll get some soon enough. i love sittin' in front of the beasts. i have my fishtank flanking me to my left and it doesn't seem to mess with my soundstage any. if i need it dead quiet while cranking tunes, i just have to turn off the bubblers for awhile. but honestly george, you know i play them babies LOUD and no fishy tank is gonna interfere with sonic excellence.

i gotta say, these sda's are making me venture into all new and different types of music. like really, why the hell would anyone sit and listen to "the hamster dance" by blue man group? (i think it's the bmg. who the eff made this song???) anyone who's heard it on a set of sda's knows why.

dude selling them had them hooked to an adcom 555 so that i could have a listen to make sure all drivers performed and regrettably, he was not able to crank them. but it'll be sweet when i do amp them up as it'll be like getting brand new speakers all over again. these are the gift to myself that'll keep on giving. new tweets down the line. then do the x-overs. so on and so forth.

Sweet, Bill. I happen to look on craigslist yesterday and saw those. I almost e-mailed the guy, but with my foot, there was no way I could deal with them right now.

yeah, how could they have gone unnoticed since the end of august? friday night outta the blue i ran a search and there they were. dude told me he had some calls and at that price i knew it was all about timing. someone else could have easily purchased them and they'd be gone forever. i told him no if's and's or buts i'd be there the next day to get them. let the **** talk and let the real buyers walk. whatever that means.

i kinda figured you were not interested anymore as you have upgraded your tweets to sound so clean. szhleppy, you MUST do that to yours! the smooth sound is amazingly better. don't forget to mention being a club polk member.

wes, court and whomever other southern az polkies are welcome to check 'em out. i know avelanchefan mentioned coming to check out the fish tank as well.
