Try the 3300 in another location/room. It might be a dead spot caused by construction materials. e.g., I have problems w/ radio reception in areas of our house due to metal lathe that supports the plaster on the walls. Other issues can be things like aluminum siding and foil covered foam insulation panels.

my suggestion.. get an analog tuner.. the old fashioned kind like Sansui, Pioneer or Marantz. they don't cost that much.. and I betcha reception will no longer be a problem.

I have one of them "T" shaped thin wire antennas connected to my Pioneer TX-9500II and the reception is maxxed out on most stations. I can't even imagine how far way stations I could dial in if I had a decent antenna.. instead of the dime one I'm using now. :p

Analog tunas rule. Enough said. ;)

I have found that for whatever reason some tuners do not work well with amplified antennas like the Terk. I would try a simple non amplified antennae like Danger Boy is suggesting and see if that solves the problem.

I don't think a cheap non amplified anntenna will solve his problem. the problem is with some tuners themselves.. they just aren't built with decent tuners in receivers.

But I do agree.. proper antenna placement is key to good signal strength no matter what tuner you are using. ;)

Overall my experience has been that digital tuners lack the strength to dial in some stations.

Amplified antennas just amplify the noise and the FM signal. They help however if you want to use the antenna for two tuners.

Receivers for the last 15 years have tuners that cost the manufacturer about $2.

You get what you pay for.

The Sony HD tuner is a great deal.

Have you tried Rabbit ears. They work better than most amplified antenna and look better than the wire T ones.

    +1 on the attic antenna.

take that tuner to one of the other rooms where there aren't the problems and try it there. I found a digital source can wipe out FM. If there is a DVD/CD player in the room where it doesn't work, turn it off and/or unplug it. Not all players will do this. So try those things and report back. Good luck!
