Here's my new Pro-ject Xperience table. It took me awhile to set it up, being a child of the digital age and all. But, it certainly sounds and looks great.

I think it came out a few years ago. My local place wanted $1100 for it, but needledoctor.com has them on closeout for $899. I must admit I am a sucker for the look.

I know. They are certainly pricey, especially compared to cd players. Luckily, work backdated my raise, which paid for my new toy :D

It is. That is what they choose to include with the player. It's actually not a bad cart.

Currently listening to Led Zeppelin's Mothership box set, sweet!

The acrylic platter upgrade for the Debut is definitely worth it. Getting rid of the OM5 won't hurt, either. I've been looking at the AT 440mla.

Yep, and Yep! I was looking at both of those identical upgrades. The speedbox is highly recommended, but I just really don't get it:confused: I was thinking of making one with a 555 timer circuit, but nobody seems to actually know what the speedbox does. Seeing most TT's have ac motors I am assuming they run like stepper motors where the hz sets the speed:confused:

Nice table at a great price. Congrats!
where the hz sets the speed

The output voltage on mine is pre set, but I can adjust the frequency. You shouldn't have any problem building one.

I'm loving it so far. My tastes range from classic rock to singer/songwriter stuff, so just about everything. This table does a fantastic job of imaging compared to my last table. I've not known my SDA's to convey a sense of depth well (though soundstage is awesome!). I have noticed a definite improvement in this area. Mid-bass is fast and detailed, treble is smooth. No complaints here. I am curious to see how much the sound will change once broken in.

Yes it does, it came with one. It surprises me that some of the tables I was looking at did not come with one.

I haven't really felt compelled to getback into vinyl.......Until now.

That's one of the prettiest set up's I've seen that was not overly rediculously priced.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

The Technics MKII 1200 is a better TT than what I had;) Post a new thread. BillBill has some great advice. My TT isn't bad, but I would need to sink another $300+ to make it shine(speed box, platter, and new cart). Get a good cart for yours, and see how you feel about vinyl. Its not for everyone. I thought I would hate cleaning the records, but I love getting cheap records at goodwill etc for a dollar or so. I can get at least 10 albums for the price of one CD. You find yourself buying stuff you normally wouldn't. I think its great. You will have snap crackle, and pop between songs, but during playback it doesn't bother me.

    This place is great!

I have a question. Is the VTA set too high?

The pictures make it hard to tell. I only ask because this, improperly set, would make a huge difference in fidelity.

Seems like the carts riding high in the back which accentuates the treble; the cart body should be parallel to the surface of the record unless you want to try tweaking it a bit up or down from there.

forgive me if you know all this, but the pics made me wonder; just trying to help.

EDIT* I just looked at the 3rd pic and it would seem that the cart is riding high in the back. Can you adjust VTA on the fly with that arm? If you can, put on something wide open and lush, like a 180gm Wailers album and adjust the VTA so the cart is parallel to the record. Tell us what you hear : )

I think the last pic is more of an illusion than anything, but I will check. I rebalanced the weight since then just to make sure I got it right. I have not messed with the VTA at all (I wouldn't know where to start to be honest).
