I want to sell my speakers BUT........
Hi. I am new to this Polk forum and wanted to post a for sale add but it says I have to have 25 posts before I can. I understand the reasoning for this BUT I don't want to just randomly comment on posts just to get my count up. Or should I just post randomly to get my count high enough? Any suggestions for me since I really want to sell my Polk LSi7's? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Welcome. If you want to sell them, your best bet is to go ebay, craigslist, audiogon, etc.
If you start posting like crazy just to get your post count up, you won't like the result.
You can stay and participate. You might like us here._________________________________________________

The Flea Market here is not really a place just to "sell" stuff. Generally items are sold at really good prices (ie:well under market) between members of the forum because of the trust and camaraderie here. If you make nonsensical posts just to sell your speakers, it will get you nowhere. If you need to sell them fast...ebay, audiogon, craigslist are your best bet...and you will probably get a better price. If you want to hang around the forum and then sell your speakers after you have "contributed"...feel free to do so. Otherwise you might be better served looking to sell elsewhere."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Agree with Ricardo. Dont just post useless posts to get your count up. You will not be welcomed here. Stick around and participate its a cool place.

Hi. Thanks for the fast and honest reply. I know the question has a "use common sense" answer but just thought I would ask anyway. No harm, no foul. Appreciate the answer from someone who has obviously been here for awhile (6,000 post count).

Welcome to the Forum, amigo. Stick around and you'll see some of the best deals ever in the Flea Market. Also, you'll meet some of the coolest cats around.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Well, because of this post I actually did sell the speakers to someone right here where I live. I was surprised to say the least. Glad I asked the question about post count on here otherwise the girl that bought them would not even have known about them. She loved that they looked brand spankin' new and that she got such a good deal on them. Thanks to all who helped me with my question, very appreciated.

Congrats to both of you. We like polks and good deals and polite ppl

people here are really judgmental especially the folks with 6000+ (**cough**). I got over 25 posts in a single day. They thought i wanted to sell something on here and started "dibbing" on me. Hahaha. Sorry old folks, you're no Polkie then. I ain't here to sell shish. You're all wrong.

Welcome Vfx.
We are not judgemental, we are protective of our board. The usual MO for newbies who join just to try to sell something on here is to make 25 useless posts and then promptly post in the Flea Market whatever junk they are trying to get rid of.
People have been burned like that, so we take proactive measures to try to head them off. Sometimes we get a little harsh, but compared to how it use to be, how we do it now is pretty tame.
So if we misjudged you, just realize it was done to protect all members on here. I missed out on the flame war thread a few days ago; thought maybe that you weren't really a Polkie unless you've posted in a thread that was closed by moderators. I kind of feel left out.
Any chance we can close this thread so I feel better about myself?Do you hear that buzzing noise? -

I'd be very surprised if this individual ever stops back to answer your questions. His speakers were sold, and that's probably that.
How did his speaks sell? He posts his post and people PM him looking for the deal. -

A girl here in Richmond that is an audio fanatic visits different forums to read about audio/video stuff. She said she ran across my post and was curious because of the name (BigMac.....that is what everyone calls me where I live because of my profession(s)). She checked my profile and sure enough it said Richmond VA. She said she knew of noone else called that so she called one of our mutal friends that we grew up with together and got my #. The rest is history. Lets just say that it was a blast from the past for sure. Now in a few weeks she and her husband and my wife and I are going out to dinner to catch up on old times. Funny how things work out sometimes. -

Well George.....:)SURPRISE!!!!!!! I know after re-reading through my posts yesterday I can see where you might think that. BUT, there is always two sides to a story. And as you can see this story has a happy beginning and is only in its first chapter. I hope to be here for quite some time and learn valuable info.,tips, tricks, and the like from all of you. Everyone has to start somewhere and I just happened to get a very good start.
I didn't just post to try and sell anything at all; never was my intention. Also, I never received any pm's through this or any other site regarding my speakers. I received a call at home from her and that is where it all began. All things considered though, I do feel very fortunate. I can certainly appreciate your skepticism and reservations regarding this but every once in a great while things happen purely by chance. Anyway, thanks to all that welcomed me and offered valuable advice. A fantastic way to start somewhere you have never been before -

so the mods made the right decision by not deleting your thread -
Posting what you did (i'll summarize): Gee, I really know your rules say I can't post my Lsi7's for sale, but I really do want to sell them.....i sure wish i didn't have to come up with 25 posts blah blah blah
That IS trying to sell them by circumventing the rules. If you don't see that, you'll have a rough go of things around here.
It amazes me when newbies intentionally break the rules, then whine when the group basically says eff you for not only acknowledging that the rules exist, but then mentioning 'the sale' 2 or 3 different ways.......and if you think it's an honor to have candyliquor in your corner, I assure you it's not..........comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

Hi Brett, thanks for giving me your perspective on this matter. After being here a few days I have come to the conclusion that you all are VERY protective of the forums and I think that is admirable. Regrettably though, past transgressions and the jaded outlook it has given some here is unfortunate. Looks like this subject is an open sore for this forum. While I do appreciate your view in your post I am a little dumbfounded when you say,and if you think it's an honor to have candyliquor in your corner, I assure you it's not..........
Since I have arrived here at the Polk forums a few days ago, I have felt nothing but a camaraderie second to none. After reading alot of posts and from the responses I have received this is the conclusion I have drawn so far. Overall though as with anything, there will be "ups and downs" and one can hope they will only be in bed (my attempt at humor and to lighten this post up a bit). Sorry if I treaded on the "boundries" of what is considered to be an ongoing issue and sore spot here. I can assure you and others that in the future I will be more aware of "special" topics of interest. Hopefully we can now move forward to what this forum was intended for instead of beating a dead horse. -
All I'm saying is that ANYone that would say "i know the rules are X, but I really want to sell these Lsi7's" then you ARE circumventing the rules.............clearly. How would it be anything other than you blatantly disregarding the rules when it's clear to everyone that you want to sell Lsi7's and want to sidestep the rules............
I'm not being a dick here by any means........I'm just saying it is what it is.........
candyliquor is a **** of the highest order......so just saying take his endorsement with a grain of salt......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

All I was stating is that I wanted to sell the speakers and did not want to break the rules by just running my post count up. I was hoping for an "honest" answer to my initial question and I got it, which was nice. I speak my mind so there is no confusion about what I am saying. Always have been like that and always will. I never furthered my "supposed agenda" so that is that. And as you so eloquently pointed out, you are just saying it is what it is......so am I. I would have first hand knowledge of my intentions and since I have confirmed my "real" intentions multiple times I can only assume you will not be deterred in your opinion; I respect your due diligence though. I don't think you are being a dick either.........you are just speaking about how you feel on this subject, and I respect that. That is what I am takling about, say it like it is and let it all hang out. My feelings exactly. Hopefully we can "now" move forward cause I am feeling pretty bad beating a horse that is already dead, lol.;) -
Im getting Deja Vu from another recent thread of new member with 'good intentions'.

Just a little side note. If my intention was to come here and sell my speakers like someone else pointed out there are faster and easier ways to do it (audiogon,CL, and so forth). I also would not be taking the time to apologize and try to explain myself if I did not care about other peoples point of view. I see what you all are saying......pretty black and white. Just don't always judge a book by it cover. Now that we are into the first chapter hopefully you can see I am one that tries to fix a situation before it is irrevocably broken. Not much more damage control I can do here except to show you all through time that I am a stand up guy. Hopfully you will see that in the near future.:)

I totally agree that people here need to watch out for the lowlife scum that try and deceive. I guess I kinda dragged my hand dangerously close to the scum pool for a second and my hand smells like shiot. Needless to say I am in the process of dipping my hand in sulfuric acid, sandblasting it, and if that does not work I will go for a whole hand transplant to remove the scum smell. I think after you all get to know me you all will come to see that I am alot of fun to be around.
Actually, in retrospect, I am kinda glad all this happened........people here stand up for what they believe to be right. Just goes to show how close knit of a community there is here. A nice change since most people follow the sheep mentality and just go with the flow and say or do nothing. It is also nice to have a disagreement with constructive criticism rather than just a bunch of middle school name calling; another rarity in todays online world. Thanks for you all keeping me in line and not let me wander aimlessly through CP.
** Hope to meet some of you all at Polkfest. I will be wearing the BIG DORK hat that says, I came to CP and got owned in my first post, lol. Or you could look for the guy with the hand transplant since the acid bath and sandblasting seem to be not working out so well. Heck, at this rate I can be the CP jester, lol.** -
ROTFLMAO!!!:D
I think you are going to do alright BigMac! The last couple of people that we tried to show the error of their ways got all bent out of shape & started whining rather than accept the rules & advice as given & move on to other subjects.
Stick around, contribute positively to the life of the forum and only think of posting your speakers for sale sometime in the distant future!:p:D
