CC doesn't carry the LSi line anyway.

Hey, we can't save them all, some will need to learn on their own. Painful, but effective.

    Cheers,

I saw them advertised in a circular for a local Circuit City a little while ago.

There are no other authorized Polk dealers around here though. Just Circuit City.

Friends don't let friends listen to Blose. Do him a favor and tie his **** up, then drive him to the closest Polk dealer, he'll thank you.

It is so funny how a person's judgement is affected by their preconceptions. Sometimes I play the Bose and it just sounds HORRIBLE and the customer will say, 'Wow! That Bose is something else!' I'm like, 'Uhhhhh, were you even listening???'

    Jstas,
Why not let your friend read what people say about Bose on this and other boards? If he's open to others' opinions he should be able to get the picture. If not, oh well, at least you tried. Just get ready to use your, "I told you so".

    Jstas,
You don't.Your friend has his own hears, allow him to listen to what he wants. If Bose is what does it for him, whats wrong with that?
Allow me to shedsome light on this very topic:
Speakers are personal.Like anything else they need to be personally selected. Some put more time into it then others.
Somehow Bose reached your friend and Polk didn't,however it happened,Bose did a better job getting the word out.Listening is personal.People in here own speakers like Kef,not everyone likes Kef,some people think the Kef speakers are junk, overpriced and sound terrible, but does that make the person who likes them wrong for liking them?I say no.
Same goes for Carver amps...could be the worst group of amps in the world, but people like them for there personal reasons. Are they Wrong for liking them?I say no.
Bose is hated by many, and even more liked by more.
Polk Lsi 15's aren't for everyone.Bose isn't for everyone. But both have equal rights to the market and is out there for the taking.
If you like the Lsi15's,buy them for yourself, not your friend.Let him make up his own mind in whats the right speaker for him.
    The market is flooded with brands......Dynaudio,Vienna Acoustics,Sonus Faber,Wilson Audio,B&W,KEF,Polk,Martin Logan,Energy,Totem,Bose,KLH,DQ-10's,KEF,JBL,Alantic Technology,RBH,Boston Acoustic,Klipsch,Mirage,Thiel,Dunlavy,Revel,Definitive Technology,Anthony Gallo,Cambridge soundworks,Magnepan,Paradigm,PSB,Snell,Velodyne,M&K,just to name a few.Who does your friend look at?Bose why?lets ask him that.
Bashing Bose......why not bash the rest......there is always someone who will like them.Bash away if thats what does it for yeah.

My beef with Bose is not what they are as much as the down right dishonesty with which they push their products with. There is no integrity in their products. The push cheaply made products at exorbitant prices touting them as world class products. That's my beef with Bose.

Poorly said Dan. How could a friend let a friend buy overpriced, overmarketed and sub-performance paper cone crap! Your point, in general is well taken, but not in this case and jstas is trying to not let his friend get hosed. I applaud him for that.

Well, I used to subscribe to Stereo Review and I was showing him articles from 3 years ago where the rated Bose middle of the pack every time.

His father has a Cadillac with a Bose stereo in it stock. He says it sounds really good but says his Jeep's stock premium stereo hits harder down low and has clearer highs.

I have a Polk dB system in my truck. Basically, Polk home theater speakers but not in tuned enclosures. He says it's probably the best sounding stereo in a vehicle he has ever heard and I don't even have it dialed in properly yet.

The whole point is, he's going on the hype. He has admitted that he has heard better stuff but put him around something Bose and he forgets about it all.

I keep telling him, there is no replacement for displacement. A 4 inch speaker and 20 feet of PVC piping cannot replace, sound like or have the acoustic range of seperate high, mid and low range speakers matched to work to gether. Asking 1 single paper 4 inch speaker to cover the entire frequency range accuratly is not exactly sane IMO. It can work for things like computer speakers but beyond that, you are just living in a fantasy world. Besides, big **** speakers look really cool!

    mantis,
I understand where you are coming from. However, I agree with you only on one point. They are his speakers for his ears and he has to get what he thinks sounds the best. But, given my post above, you can clearly see that he has his mind pretty well made up due to the marketing hype of Bose.

Beyond that, your post totally goes against everything this country is about. Yes, everyone has a right to sell what they want to sell in any way they can. However, I also have a right o express my opinion. If I feel my friend is wasting his time with Bose then Bose has to convince me too. I shouldn't have to let Bose do thier thing. I am the consumer and if I believe Bose's product is inferior, I vote with my money. I have already voted, about 15 times. I also have a right to express my opinion to those who will listen. If I feel Bose's product is inferior to another product and I see my friend going to spend money that is poorly invested, I also have a right to tell him about that and why.

Therefore, since we live in a democratic republic, if Bose wants to stay in business, then they need to wow me, not the other way around. I dislike Bose because while thier stuff looks fancy, it's not up to par with stuff that costs half as much. They are trying to play in a market that is out of thier league and the only reason they have any kind of footing in the market is because of thier image.

With that said, I will say it again. I have extensive experience in audio reproduction. My opinions are based on facts that I have tested and proven through my own experience and refusing to believe the hype. Look at Polk, there is very little marketing driven hype from them. Sure, we see the ads but how many people don't know who Matthew Polk is or what Polk Audio is? Ask any schmuck on the street and they will tell you what Bose is and does. Yet Polk still sells thousands of speakers every year. Why is that? I'll tell you why, Polk speakers speak for themselves. I have turned Bose bigots to other brands in the past and I will continue to do so until Bose puts something out that I feel is actually worth the time and money one will spend putting a set in his/her house.

Until then, I firmly believe that Polk is where it is at and they are the number one speaker company that I always recommend. In car audio and home audio. Hell, I even turned a JL Audio salesman away from JL by just showing him what my dB components we capable of and JL bigots are som of the hardest headed people around. Everyone I have installed Polk speakers for raves about them. A preist I know even had me rip out the Bose system in his Buick to install an after market radio, amplifier and Polk speakers. I don't tell anyone anything but the facts about Polk and just have them listen. They get hooked themselves.
