I'm interested to see if there is going to be a difference worthy enough to have to double dip this myself, already have the HD version. Let us know what you think after viewing.

There is a photo comparison at AVSForum. I personally do not see much, if any, difference between the HD-DVD version and the BluRay version. Maybe, just maybe, in some of the fast action scenes, the BluRay has less noise, but its very minimal.

I will stick with my HD-DVD, which I believe only cost me $10 or $15 back in February.

A TrueHD track vr a DD+ track, that alone is reason enough to go Blu.

It's in my Netflix cue, and I'm very excited to see the BD version. I'll be interested to see just how many copies of the BD they can get out.

Hey good idea. I didn't think of that. I own it on HD DVD and would love to see / hear it on Blu.

    Great movie.

The answer is no for me. I own the HDDVD version and saw the Blu-Ray version over the weekend (my buddy gets movies early) and after the movie we compared them. It's definitely not worth another $30 unless you plan on getting rid of your HDDVD player, since it's a dead format.

I assume you didn't hear any difference in the audio? nothing more impressive about the video?

Come on man, lets hear it. I get yeah but want alittle more Bro.

Naturally the audio is better on the BluRay with the TrueHD, but I am not one who cranks the hell out of my movies, so that doesn't bother me. There was no difference in video quality that I could see.

Perhaps my opinion is a bit skewed since I have become VERY picky about what movies I purchase these days. Been sticking with straight Netflix unless it's a true blockbuster (like the new Batman, etc.) or a movie I really like.

I ordered it on Blu anyway, we'll see. I'm hoping for at least a subtle change in audio or video, so I can at least convince myself it was worth the money spent. LOL

    Placebo effect ;)

There is no way any of us will see a difference in the image quality during playback. Probably a minor improvement in Audio, but that's it.

The DD+ on the HD version actually sounds pretty darn good.

Did you see the screen shot comparisons at AVS. There is no appreciable difference in image quality. Not on a 40", not on a 115". Looking closely at full resolution screen captures, even 200x zooms, you can't see any clear advantage to the Bluray image.

In the end, if someone wants to waste $30 on the same movie they already own, let them. I used to do that too, until I realized how much money I was wasting everytime I did it.

So much for times being so tough I guess... ;)

Spun this last night and while the image is on par with the HD-DVD the audio is not. While the upgrade to the TrueHD track is not huge over the previous DD+ it's noticeable, quite noticeable. From the voices sounding clearer and more detailed, to the overall sound stage being bigger and more enveloping, to the films score, right down to the small details of the sounds that I've not noticed before. It's quite a noticeable improvement and worth the upgrade just for that TrueHD track.

If someone want's to spend the money, does so, and enjoys what they spent it on, it's not a waste of money.

Also, don't forget the $10 rebate for this from Paramount

Buying 2 copies of a piece of media with little difference in quality is a waste of money in the general sense. If you enjoy it, more power to you, I still call it as waste.

The value of anything is what someone is willing to pay for it. That doesn't mean the rest of us can't call it a waste while still supporting their right to do it. I didn't realize I was arguing anything other than that.

As a side note, this was on sale as HD-DVD in Fry's, $7.99 (2 discs), along with bunch of others. I saw a lot of people picking up the XBOX HD-drive for $29.99, or was it $39.99. I resisted all the temptations as I mostly rent anyways.
