Sansui AU-4900 Amp not working.

I recently picked up a 1977 Sansui AU-4900 amplifier in very good physical condition.
When plugged in the power light works but no sound comes out of the unit at all.
I was looking to see if anybody out there may have an idea what the problem could be or if there is a common issue with them?
I'm not sure if these models are worth spending money on and unfortunately technicians want about $50.00 just to open it up and have a look before they tell you it's too old and not worth fixing!
Thanks

Hi, thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.

Further to my original thread, it turns out the power supply isn't working. I have no technical knowlege when it comes to electronics. Can somebody please enlighten me what exactly this means, or what part needs replacing?

Hi Keiko;915891, it seems the cost to repair the amp is more than it's worth. A real pity considering it's in excellent condition. I saw it at a flea market and for $5.00 I couldn't leave behind. I'd truly like to hear how this amp would sound on my system, but I can't justify a minimium cost of $100.00, plus the caps and dry joints could also be another issue to deal with as well! Thanks for your reply and the links were helpful. I have no technical electronics knowledge and I was just attempting to find out what repairing the power supply actually meant. Cheers.Unfortunately, Sansui pulled out of the U. S. market back in the mid 80's. I still have some vintage units in storage somewhere around the house. I don't know how much you're willing to spend to resurrect this unit, or if it's worth it to you. Sansui made some good stuff at one time and I always enjoyed the sound of their equipment. Anyway, here's a couple links I found for you. Maybe one of these techs can help. Good luck.
