So I Decided to build a House in Japan

Well long story short it seems like I will be in Japan for another 5-6 yrs. I loved my condo, however being that I have family here I wanted to build something. When I leave I plan to rent it out, make some cash off the estate. For Japan this home is considered big, though in the US its a very decent size, 2500 sq feet to be exact with 1 car garage. House has everything I could think of. Thank goodness for the US Mail, I imported tons of stuff from Home Depot/Lowes. All the tiles for the bathroom and outdoor walk way were imported from Spain, this also includes the marble used in the entrance, kitchen and bathroom countertops. The house also features video calling when you ring the door bell, and will even page my cellphone and also display your face on my phone. Also installed whole house lan which supports my dedicated 100 meg fiber line.
The dedicated theater room was a task in itself. Forum member Grimster helped me daily with this one, thanks to phone calls and yahoo messaging, he gave me outstanding tips to make it happen. I imported the Lutron Spacer System from the USA also, Japanese were impressed with it allot.
The master bathroom features a therapeutic shower were multiple water outlets were installed to include the side wall. Well here are the pics.

What amazes me is that they build with concrete, and I mean tons of it. Termites and typhoons are the reason from what my builder told me, here are a few photos of the build in process.

Overall they did an outstanding job, I will post more of the new theater room this week as it will be complete. Room is 14x22 and has solid concrete walls all around. I was in there yesterday and you could almost hear a pin drop. I can say the Lutron Spacer System is outstanding, I programmed the lighting yesterday and it works flawlessly. Stay tuned.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

WOW.. that is really, really nice. How does the cost of building over there compare to if you did that here? The one thing that would worry me about renting a home overthere is that you will be here and checking that everything is alright with the home would not be possible.

Cost is tad bit cheaper since we're dealing with Japanese Yen. The project took roughly 5 months, these guys build fast. As for renting they have American Housing agencies that would handle the property, besides that I have inlaws here also.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Congrats! Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

One word... CONTRACTOR.:D $$$
Nice house, I really like the way they build over there. Sure in hell beats a wood framed one with vinyl siding, like mine. -
Congratulation on your beautiful new home! Your house already looks very warm and comfortable. I'm sure the build quality is much better than here in the states. I have always wanted to build a new home. Good luck!Carl

Nice work, Sherard. Gettin' a projector just in time for Call of Duty 5!

I'll be using the same setup when I setup my gear. The only thing I bought new was a Panasonic BD30 and that was because they were on sale here. The land here is very expensive, however I managed to make something work. I am a contract electronic engineer for the US government and have been doing it for the past 5 yrs here, just landed a 6 yr deal with John Deere working on the front loaders and D7 Dozers so I'm staying a little longer. And yes I this is built in Okinawa, so if any of you make it here, youre all more than welcome to come hang out. Heres one pic I left out

No basements in Japanese homes, I wish it was a basement. The blue is actually a black though the flash on the camera makes it look blueish.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

It's alright, LOL!!!! I've been waiting for a brrother to post picks of his build for how long now? Sherard is my brother from another mother and I can wait to build up the nads to take that 20 hour flight to Japan to see it for myself (never flown before, would suck for my first flight:eek:). One thing though, didn't see pics of my room. LOL!! Way to go bro, crib is looking great as I expected, especially that theater room.
