lsi9, lsi15, rti a9?
I currently have a pair of lsi9's with a small polk sub(I think perhaps a psw 250?) running 2 channel on a marantz pm7001.
I'd like to fill in the bottom and am considering replacing with either the lsi15s or rti a9s. Other option is to keep the lsi9s and add a larger sub, possibly a velodyne dls 5000r. My room is 18 x 24 x 9. Any opinions? Would i be disappointed going from the lsi9s to the rti's? Would the lsi15's provide the low end I'm missing?
Thanks.

Stick with the LSi series for 2 channel.
If you want more low end you can try adding a sub. The new DSW series is supposed to sound pretty good. If you're stuck on Velodyne, definitely check out the SPL series subs, they sound fantastic."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. Thanks. I was leaning that way. Any opinion on the lsi15's vs. 9's with a sub?

It really depends on the room. I have a 11x16 room that LSi15's wouldn't fill and a 17x18 room that they'd fill without a problem.
How's the current bottom end? Does it need a little help or is it not there at all?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
I would say needs help. I was running some old floorstanders in there, and while the lsi9's are much much sharper, it now feels like I'm missing some depth.

A lot of people always suggest LSi's over RTi's.....however, IMO it really depends on what kind of music you like listening to and the size of your room. If I like to listen to a lot of LOUD house, rap, techno, rock in a big room; I would hands down choose the RTiA9. If you're looking for detail, accurate reproduction of sound, etc, I would choose the LSi line. Either way, you're going to need a beefy amp...Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

Thanks. I'd say I'm looking for more detail vs. loudness. Any other thoughts on lsi9 with sub vs. lsi15 without?
Face, where'd you go? -
Given what you just said, I would go with the LSi9's and a sub. You'll have a lot more versatility with that combo (room placement, tuning, etc) for your likings. Plus, a lot of people around don't like the woofer that's in it and have talked about upgrading it.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

Thanks again. What size sub is needed for an 18 x 24 x 9 room? I fear the answer is large.

Check out the Polk DSW and Micro series and also the Velodyne SPL series(10"+) provide a good amount of bass for their size."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

I like Lsi 15's with a sub. I like Lsi 25's with internal subs and a external sub. I don't care for the Lsi9's vs. But they are some nice speakers with a good sub. If music is your game, look into Martin logan subs. They are fantastic. Also check out Rel, they are also some really good musical sub's.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm now thinking I may go with two smaller subs as opposed to one larger. Again, room is 24x18x9. I want to stay under 1K and was looking at the dsw 500. Any experience with these? I've also heard Velodynes are great for the price. Unfortunately, our one local place to demo anything (other than Circuit City and Best Buy) recently went under.
