Coming soon on SACD from Mobile Fidelity......

Foghat - Fool For The City
Marshall Crenshaw - Marshall Crenshaw
Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On

Also rumored to be out soon on SACD from Universal/UK.....

Emerson,Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery
Emerson,Lake & Palmer - Pictures at an Exhibition

I also understand that Mofi plans to continue releasing new rock/blues SACD's, which is excellent news.

While you'all are doing that kinky sh$t, I'll be listening to the CD layer. I've found the redbook CD layer on MoFi's hybrid SACD's to be a lot higher quality than other copies of the same album.

Agree Doug, at the Ga. Fest Dave Alvins--BlackJack David SACD MoFi was a huge favorite on the Manley two-channel redbook rig with various players. I highly recommend it. Of course, I got it from F1 Nuts who lost his marbles one day and sold it to me. There is some low bass in Tall Trees the last track on the disc that move all your insides in a very nice way. Plenty of pristine guitar work with lots of air and space and great vocals throughout.

The DSD process is known to help Redbook, add the care MoFi takes with the recording and they certainly hold the magic if your rig can deliver it.

Oh Baby, Lets get it on, lets get it on.............

Hmmm...."Let's Get It On" has previously been released on SACD already. Nonetheless, great news!!

Don't forget that MoFi has also announced new SACD from the Pixies (Bossanova)

On top of this news, Genesis' third SACD boxset (the Peter Gabriel era) is set for a September release.

Thanks for the post Jesse! I knew about the Marvin Gaye, but I didn't know about ELP.

I recently bought the Santana Abraxas, Limited Edition, Gold MOFI and I was disappointed. This was a first for me as I have always been happy with their material. Anyone else have this CD?

I have both of the new MoFi Santana releases. They sounded pretty good on my system. I thought they kind of over-emphasized the mid-range and should of kept a little more bass, but they certainly weren't bad sounding.

At least not like the JVC XRCD release of Tina Turner's Private Dancer that I have. Holy crap, whatever they did to her voice on that one sucks!

It's not like it was bad sounding, it just wasn't as good as I was expecting. For example my Miles Davis "**** Brew", Columbia recording, same time frame, just knocked me over. "Abraxas" sounded like several tape generations and not the original master.

I will probably do that Jesse. I usually go for the SACD, but I have had good luck with Mofi "Original Master Recording Limited Edition", Audiophile 24K Gold CD's. The "Marc Cohn" (untitled - has "Walking in Memphis" on it) is the same LE, 24K format, at that CD knocks my breathout everytime I listen to it. Both these releases are individually numbered cardboard case. I'd much prefer the jewel case. Screw the environment, I want high quality tunes in nice jewel cases.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I love Mofi gold issues, but in this case the original Sony SACD of Abraxas is the benchmark.

I'm with you on those cardboard jackets, just awful. You can't the disc out or back in without a major hassle.

Just in case you didn't see this mentioned in another thread....

It was mentioned in an interview with David Gilmour for the current issue of UK's Mojo magazine. When asked whether the SACD of WYWH will ever be released, Dave had the below quote....
"Yes. But when I last listened to it, there were still problems which need sorting out before we release it."

Maybe with the passing of Richard Wright, this project will be released sooner?

If it sounds as good on SACD as it does on DVD Audio it will be impressive. This is the one album that if you like DVDA at all you should have.

Rebecca Pidgeon. The Raven on SACD by Chesky Records is not to be missed either. Rebecca Pidgeons spanish harlem rendition is incredible on this disc.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

See post #18 for the latest news on the SACD of WYWH....directly from David Gilmour. Apparently the artwork for the SACD has already been finished.

There were never talk of a SACD for "Animals". Personally, I think Pink Floyd should consider a complete catalog release on SACD....just like that of Genesis.

Genesis fansite "World of Genesis" is reporting a 30th anniversary edition of Tony Banks' solo debut "A Curious Feeling" will be released on SACD in 2009. The news was confirmed by the band's engineer Nick Davis on its official website forum.

LOL The Aerosmith "Rocks" SACD is not mine; it was found in the used CD bin at some music shop by a member over at stevehoffman.tv. I wish I was that lucky.

    Well, here's some SACD booty....

Would you pay over $150.00 for the SACD of the Byrds' "Fifth Dimension"?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220288207736&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012

If this was indeed a SACD of the Byrds' album, it was most likely one of those test copies like the Aerosmith "Rocks" SACD that "escaped" the pressing plant. I am still waiting for the announced-but-never-released "Best of Sade" SACD to appear in the used CD bins.
