on my 1.2's it didn't always do that. When I change my speaker cable it solve the problem years ago. What could be causing this problem again. Should I upgrade my speaker cables.I just purchase 8 new tweeters from Polk.As you all know These speakers are very old. 1988 is when I bought them.

You may have to bypass the polyswitches but then you run the risk of damaging your tweeters.
Or you can call polk and get some free replacement polyswitches. New ones may fix the problem or they may not depending on how hard you are driving them. -
It sounds like you are tripping the polyswitches(tweeter protection), as they get older, they may trip with less volume and may do so more often. You can replace them, bypass them,,or keep the volume at a lower level. What are you driving them with?,,I think that I have a couple if you want em,,pm me--georgeJC approves....he told me so. Sounds like the polyswitch doing its job. What amp are you using? Also why did you buy new tweeters? Which ones did you get? Same DCR/Impedance?
