I just went to Wal-Mart yesterday and went through thier Blue-Ray movies and seen that there are a couple new movies in 7.1 DTS HD Master (The Eye, The Bank Job, Rambo).

I'm still on the hunt for a new higher end pre that will decode the new formats and seen that Krell has started shipping the new Evo707 that has it all and more it looks to be one bad **** pre-pro and it should at over $25k. That is alittle too rich for me for sure but that level is where I want to be next. The Marantz or Integra is not what I want in my system, something like Mac, Krell, NAD Master all would be something I would like to audition and coincider especially the Mac that one would be a no-brainer IMO game over...

Did you pick up Rambo? I didn't see that yet. I did see "THE EYE" and that was kinda good. Sounded awesome.

I'm killed on the preamp thing. I'm so tired of waiting around watching the Industry do things half ****. Everyone should just release a fully loaded preamp so people like you and me can decide which one to get not just the ones that do it now.... Depressing.

    Dan,

I hear you on that... About the only one that looks halfway good to me for the $$, is the Onkyo Pro-885 or Integra.

Dave, are you looking at the AP1000 from Mac? I've read it supposed to be one hot piece. Not a lot of info out on it yet though that I can find. The folks at Audiokarma are stoked on it.

I'm not that into HT, but am considering the MX-120.

There is, but so far it looks like the only thing it adds is Audyssey dynamic range control, and the price is going up as well. Looks identical to the 885.

If it's anything like last year, it should be announced at the end of September, and impossible to get until February or March.

There was EYE candy in the movie. My wife liked it more then I did but it was watchable.

While the color of the cases are indeed Blue, it's Blu-ray. Just one of those pet-peeve things...carry on.

Just buy something to get by with for now, that's what I did. I HATE using receivers, hate using them but for the $500 and change I picked up the Onkyo 805 for it was a no brainer just to be able to listen to every lossless audio format available. By no means is this thing a keeper, it's just until pre/pro's get their **** together and the prices drop.

I hear yeah man. I have a Pioneer Elite 94txh on standby just for this reason. I keep waiting for someone to release what I want. Krell is over my budget and my entire system, Rotel suck, NAD sucks , Integra does it but not my cup of tea. Marantz does it so I'm gonna go check that out , B&K sucks , Anthem sucks so there is nothing else right now thats ready to go. Eff it I'm bringing home the 94 and being done with it for now.

    Dan,

Please explain why the Integra/Onkyo Pre is not your "cup of tea"? Is it the sound quality, just curious since I know you've probably installed or heard one of these...

    Thanks,

That is by far not a perfect pre, especially considering the 6K price tag to go along with it.

They are nice... but the Integra/Onkyo does more for a third of the cost, not considering sound quality.

I'm waiting on either the Panasonic BD-55K or the Sony S-550 BD players, that way I have full internal decoding in the player, and keep the great sound and performance of my B&K AVR. My Cambridge Audio 540D v2 upscales SD DVD's better than anything else I have seen, so I'll keep it for SD DVD's.

Not a problem but you may not like what I write next.

For years I have Installed Integra products and I found a trait with them. They are thin and bright. Annoying sounding. Even decoding the new formats they tend to stress the highs to the point I'm annoyed. I don't care for there menu system or the Processing over the years.I have seen the worse abilities out of there gear over the years. some stupid stuff they built. There are however a lot going for Integra, They are very Install friendly and easy to control. They are a solid company with a good track record. But even all that said, It's not for me. I don't like there sound quality. In receivers, they are my least favorite ranking up there with Yamaha with me. I prefer the sound of Pioneer Elite or Marantz. I don't care for Denon but Denon does a excellent job in there pre section of all there receivers and have excellent menu systems not to mention every controllable.

So if a receiver as a pre is going to happen for me, then a Pioneer Elite is the only choice. I like everything about them except they cab;t drive my speakers. I have to use a external amp.

Thanks Dan! I appreciate your honesty, I just need to get my ears on one for myself and draw my own conclusions. I'm still using my Pioneer Elite 74TXVi as a Pre, I don't want to go ahead and grab an Onkyo/Integra Pre and be disappointed.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Gordon,

I see that unit has no video switching and with the limited info I can find also I'm not sure that will be the unit for me. If they would release another MX processor like the MX136 ,mabey a MX137-8 that will decode the new HD formats with HDMI I would be all over it. If the AP1000 can do that then I would be really looking into that one too there's just not much to go on.
