I care nothing about the traditional track and field events...however...the decathalon has always been a favorite just because of the complexity of it. I have always liked swimming (did a bit back in my HS days) so I've watched most of it. Phelps is a BEAST (in a good way). I watched Mark Spitz back in the day and saw every gold metal event he won. I plan to do the same for Phelps.

Having daughters that were volleyball and softball players, I have an appreciation for those sports and have watched as much as possible. I followed Cat Osterman's softball pitching career all through hgh school, ASA ball and college. I was able to watch Monica Abbott pitch for 4 years at the University of Tennessee. Both are phenomenal athletes in their sport. I have seen the USA Softball team play in person on several occasions, so I really enjoy watching them.

Womens volleyball (indoor or beach)...WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE? Bikinis and/or TIGHT spandex shorts! :D

Sun Tanning. Sorry that's beach vollyball. All the skin sports get most of the coverage.

I really like cycling and weightlifting.

Hmmmmmmm - skinny guys in tight shorts or fat guys in leotards.....vs....shapely babes in bikinis and tight shorts (that actually have some athletic skills).

I know which one I'm watching.

Weight lifting is as boring of an event as there is IMO.

But then again...that's why there are LOTS of events. Something for everyone.

I'm paying attention to Michael Phelps just because.

Equestrian events were shown either on USA or MSNBC; I've seen it several times. Btw, equestrian events are not held in or around Beijing....it's held in Hong Kong.

Plus long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault. Long distance runners suck at all those too.

So do sprinters. They might do ok at long jump because of the speed they gather before taking the leap but it's not like they are Carl Lewis.

Good thing I'm not in US right now, I get to see a lot more Olympics coverage, not just the events where US has representation.

Where exactly are you Sami? I'm curious how the coverage differs. I would assume most countries would only broadcast the events that their country was involved in, not out of some jingoism but just because there's only so many hours in a day. NBC is broadcasting almost nothing but Olympics 24/7.

Also, you can watch pretty much anything you want online.

I'm in Finland for another 3 weeks. We do get all the events where our countrymen are in, but since we are a nation of 5mil there aren't that many (Winter Olympics would be a different thing). 2 channels that broadcast from morning until night, 2 more with more coverage, live and recorded. We are in good timezone too, 5h behind Peking so we don't have to watch live events in the middle of the night.

1 gold (trap), 1 bronze (air rifle) so far. Javelin should get at least one more, it's one of those traditional things where we always get one or more (men or women). Swimming is hopeful, Hanna-Maria Sepp

I saw that late a few nights ago. Wow, talk about boring. I watched this guy walk his horse around a large dirt area for 5 minutes thinking he was warming up for something, but no, that was the actual competition! At least it put me right to sleep.

    Different strokes. :)

Misty May's backside has been the biggest highlight for me.

I have enjoyed about an hour of the Olympic's each evening, the athletes are great.

NBC paid almost a billion dollars for the exclusive rights to the Olympics this time. All of NBC's outlets are showing coverage, including MSNBC, USA, and don't forget Telemundo (in Spanish, of course).

Regarding equestrian events, shouldn't the horse get the medal?

I am actually quite pleased with the coverage this time around. I've been catching some of the boxing coverage and have yet to see one single US boxer. Which is good because I like to see other people competing as well.

Only one US boxer left IIRC. One lost his match, the other didn't even pass the weigh-in (passed out or something).

Yea, thats dressage - and I agree. The cross country is really good though and stadium jumping is kind of fun to watch.
