What is up all?

For the past few months I have been wanting to get out of my 2005 pathfinder se and get into something else. I was thinking about my monthly car payment and the expense of gas. It now has 29k on it and sooner then later it's going to need new tires/brakes and any other maintenance thing.

So with all that in mind, I have been looking at all the new trucks/suv's / crossovers. I really liked a lot of them but they didn't have everything I wanted or it was more then I'm paying now. I talked to my wife and found out that I really love my Pathfinder. So for awhile I just decided to keep it. I almost got a brand new 2009 Murano but I couldn't get it exactly that the way I wanted. I need a 2 inch tow hitch for my bike rack. I got Mountain biking a lot and I wanted a Sunroof. My Pathfinder has one, my BMW had one , My Maxima had one so damn it I want one in a new one.

The dealership where I got my last 3 Nissans called as I have been in there a few times and left with my old truck. They had a killer deal on a new 2008 Pathfinder se Premium and they could get me into that for less then what I'm paying now. I saved 30 bucks a month and got a brand new truck.

At first I felt really crazy buying a updated version of the same thing. I mean it's exact except it's Blue now instead of Silver, and there is a back up camera. O and the Stereo is still Bose but it has a screen now like a Info center. The exterior is slighty different and the Interior as well. But not enough to feel like a new car. It still feels like my old one.

My wife and I talked about it and at 30 bucks less a month, thats about how much more a month I was spending in gas due to the gas price increase. So I have a new truck and saved. I think I did ok. I'll snap some pic's as I got it late last night. It's sitting in the garage.

It still feels weird buying the same thing again. But when you relise you actually love it, why fix what's not broken right??

Congrats. If you can get newer for less, why not.

The Pathfinder was one of the trucks we drove before ultimately deciding on our 4Runner and we liked it alot. To be honest, the Pathfinder has a little smoother ride on the road, but we do enough off-road stuff in our trips every year that the 4Runner was a more practical all around choice.

Nice pick. I just got rid of the last two 2008s on my lot, last week. Super nice truck, though they have gotten quite a bit larger than the originals.

You can't go wrong with one, though.

The Skyline is untouchable righ now. You can't even see one. They made like 1500 and they are all sold according to my dealership. They are also selling for 100k or more when the sticker is only 70k. I'll wait for the CRAZE to die down and look at one when they start stocking them.

Not to mention it would be a weekend car for my wife and me. We would like to have something like that or a nice drop top 350z. I also like the Inifiniti G37. Thats really sharp.

The 2009 Z car is supposed to be a 370Z, but the cabriolet will still be the 350Z, at least for the 2009 launch, according to my sources. Can't wait. The 370Z will be quite a bit more powerful, plus they are supposed to trim the fat a bit, too. Hopefully Nissan will take it back in time, to be closer in relationship to the original 240Z.

I love it when people convince themselves they are saving money on a new vehicle. While the monthly cost may be lower, didn't you just add 3-4 years onto your payments? Doesn't sound like any savings to me. You would have saved more by paying it off, and keeping it. I've never had to put any money into my Japanese vehicles before 100K miles, except brakes and tires, both of which can be done for about the cost of 1 monthly payment.

At least he's stimulating the economy:cool::). If he's comfortable with making a car payment, that's his business.

Again, Congrats on the new vehicle. I'm sure that you'll get plenty of trouble free miles out of it.

I agree, if you want a new car, then buy it. But it's silly to think you are saving money. And at 29K, he would have gotten plenty of trouble free miles from his current vehicle as well.

For sure, cars are not investments, unless you want to go out and start collecting Ferraris, Deusenbergs, or certain muscle cars. Even then it's a crap-shoot.

You got a point and I considered all the above options. At 29k I figured I would need new tires maybe next year. New brakes ,30k service , probably a new fan belt as I believe it's every 30k. I needed Registration and an oil change. I traded it in, put nothing down, lowered my monthly car payment 30 bucks. I thought it was a good deal. Not to mention there are a few upgrades to the truck like auto roll down for both front windows now. Mine only did the drivers side. I got a backup camera which is really cool. I got built in XM radio which I didn't have before and a AUV jack so I can directly connect my ipod to the stereo(Bose). I can roll my front windows down with the remote. All cool and nice stuff and it's brand new.

So I hear yeah on your points but I feel really good about what I did.
On a down side I did however add 3 more years. But they will be newer years so Im cool.

Oh just admit it. You wanted a new vehicle, nothing wrong with that.:)

I mean really, a new fan belt? I think your new vehicle will also require a registration, and an oil change during break in. You are really stretching.:)

And nothing down? What about all the payments you made for the last three years, on the vehicle you traded in?
