I've never really been able to hear differences with cables. I am always impressed with people who have entry level gear that can hear differences, I couldn't hear them with a $1k+ CDP, $2.5k Pre, $4.5k amp, and $3k speakers.

That said the monster bass cables are fine. Sub cables aren't that complex, you just need something well shielded with decent connectors, capacitance isn't really that important with a sub cable so the more shielding the better. I have used Monster for sub cables, and actually am using them right now on my SVS PB2+ (old flagship).

If you want a really nice sub cable for not much more $ go get one made from Canare LV-77S. BJC has them for ~ $20 for 8ft. LV-77S is stranded core, heavily shielded, and relatively high capacitance.

Monster bass is the one i use its not that they are bad cables its just that they have way to much hype and are over priced but if you can get them for 118 dollars thats great.

    X2

I have nothing but monster cable stuff. But I bought all of my stuff for less then wholesale. I've never paid retail for any of my monster stuff and have not had one problem with them.
I'm not saying they are the best but I have not had any other cables to do a comparison between the two.

this thread can be closed =P I went with Monoprice. Once I hook up everything I will asses the cables, and if I need to upgrade in the future I will do so. But its hard to pass on getting my interconnects, sub cable, and 6 pair of banana plugs all for $15. If one of them suck, I will simply upgrade. No biggy

Are Monsters' really that bad? Or is everybody just hung up on hating them?

Apparently I missed the BJC stuff back in April-or perhaps didn't pay it much heed--I just read through some of the threads. Well, I'm glad it worked out for BJC, but then again, sad that they didn't push and progress further to thier fate. I can't believe they even tried to take on Disney-Holy crap they've gone mad. But from the sounds of things, Kurt is the man to fear (respect).
Anyway--goodbye to evil cables-ripping them out of my walls soon enough. Perhaps I'll cut them up and use them to tie up yard debris.

I guess one good thing that came of this discussion is that it's a reawakening-or new awakening--it helps the word spread and keep spreading. I will keep this all in mind when somebody asks me for advice-I'll know to vehemently steer them away from the evil companies that go bump in the night.
