While looking at the Pro 400 at Fry's, the salesman tells me that the 400 is a bottom firing sub. He said that since it is a bottom fiiring sub, it should NOT sit on carpet. A piece of wood or plexi-glass should be placed over the carpet. Is this true or have I been had??????:confused:

I am dense. I don't understand "not bass sound waves that are 20 foot long".

You'll be fine as long as the woofer itself isn't hitting the carpet.

Bass wave lengths can approach 20 feet in length, and can penetrate nearly anything. That is why you hear cars thumping from blocks away. You never hear the highs, even if they are played just as loud, as they are absorbed/stopped by solid objects in their paths.

I have mine on carpet. You can also configure the DSW series for forward firing if you feel so inclined, or if it will help you sleep better at night.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Thanks Russ. I did not know I could reconfigure it. I will try it to hear the difference.
