greetings, i am experiencing a problem with a recently obtained polk psw 303 sub. connected to a pioneer vsx 1017 lfe out to lfe in on the sub after a short period of use the sub powers out. it can be powered on by toggling the power switch on the sub. this seems like a defect. since this is a new unit should it be exchanged or is there some easy remedy? i have ruled out the pioneer by connecting to a klipsch sub which does not exhibit the same problem. any help will be appreciated.

    Hello,
When you indicate it "powers out" do you mean it goes into the standby mode? The green colored LED becomes red? Or the actual unit's AC power shuts off?
    Regards, Ken

    hi ken,

the led remains green, however, there is no bass response. as far as i can determine there is ac power. to get the unit functioning i have to toggle the power switch. after a few times it begins to work normally from that point forward. i have not noticed any unusual heat when touching the back plate, for example.

    regards

    Hello,
Thanks for the additional information. Here's a fool proof way to test to see if the sub-woofer is the cause:
1). turn the volume all of the way down on the sub-woofer and remove all of the connecting cables/wires except the AC power cord.
2). find the right and left RCA cables that go from your DVD player to the receiver and remove them at the back of the receiver.
3). bring the DVD player over to the sub-woofer and provide AC power for the DVD player, then connect the right and left RCA cables from the DVD player to the corresponding right and left inputs on the sub-woofer.
4). begin playing any CD (not a DVD, but a CD) and turn the volume up slightly on the sub-woofer. There should be plenty of clean sounding bass with no bad noises. Let the CD play completely through and try stopping and starting the player.
    Let me know the results.
