I just bought a new reciever pioneer elite vsx82txs. and this thing is complacated. I can look at the manual a million times and only get a few things out of it. anyways I set it up by ear and it sounds exllenet compared to any reciever i have ever owned. I just discover a on screen setup. i am able to adjust tones frequency responce how much bass, treble, crossovers, ranges. to much to handle at once. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good set up for each speaker. Like i said this is the most advance thing i have ever owned and i am trying to move up in the audio world. I will take some pictures of the screen if it doesnt make sense.

The setup screen is simply there to help you change settings from your chair using the remote instead of kneeling down in front of the receiver scrolling through the display with tiny buttons.

I used the on screen setup for setting each input for its analog/digital use and setting the crossover frequency for the subwoofer output. Some of the other useful settings are what volume/input your unit goes to at power up, basically setting your own default settings.

I suggest getting the manual out while you go through the screens just to get familiar with each section of your on screen display. Knowledge and experience are important to getting the proper understanding of your gear.

If you like the sound as it sits, I wouldn't change much.

Your looking at manual equalization adjustments. I don't know anything about your receiver, but check to see if has an auto-equalization setup (if it came with a setup mike it does). If it does, use it. Otherwise if your happy with the sound, let it be.

Newer recievers come with lots of possible tweaks and options, you can leave these alone if you wish - but even if you do, you really owe it to yourself to read the manual thourougly. You'll find plenty of stuff you WILL understand that'll be helpful for day to day operation.

.........and after you screw it all up, hit the factory default button. That way you can start all over again as many times as you want. Eventually, you will know exactly what you are doing. You have a question, post it here.........better yet, don't. That might confuse you more.

Just kidding. You have a question, ask. That's how you learn, but I would advise playing with it for a while AND reading the manual at the same time to help familiarize yourself with the unit. Next thing you know, you'll be answering questions. ;)

MCACC is the auto EQ system in your receiver. The current top photo shows that MCACC hasn't been run on the center channel yet so no frequency plot (left lower) is available. The second photo is for your left channel. Once you have run that program, you will be able to see the automatic adjustments for each channel at the frequency points on the right of the screen. Of course, if you don't like the sound you hear, you can then tweak them yourself.
