I'm wondering if there are only certain tubes you can get with the Dodd ELP? I'd like to try different ones but want to make sure I'm not buying the wrong ones. Any help or if anyone has any experience.

Thanks, Dave

I've always used the 6DJ8 and/or varients,6922,7308,,my current and favorite is amperex 7308, but I want to get some more 1960's bugle boy 6dj8's back in as I had one go bad.But honestly,I can't tell that much of a difference, the amperex seem to have a little more midrange detail to me.YMMV. Good luck and have fun,the ELP is a sweet little pre.

daboyz--I have some sitting in a drawer, various types left over from when I had my ELP, still miss that little baby she was sexy and sweet, anyway, if you like I will look, I think I have some JAN, Brimar, Ei and so on, my fav were some Amperex Bugle Boy but I sold those, at least I think I did.

Like mentioned above, I also find the Bugle Boys more musical.
I also love the Amperex "A-frame" which is more analytical and neutral. I find this tube to be the fastest with great attack and transients.
The Amperex plate getter are very good as well.

    Enjoy your tube rolling:)

Did you get any tubes to try? I am just asking because I have a couple handfuls you could try. I even have duplicates of some tubes. You could have the duplicates. If your interested let me know.
