    So??? Any opinions yet?

My wife and I just got back from the midnight showing. All I can say is WOW! In my opinion it actually lived up to the hype.

It was pretty hard though to not feel a little sad during the Joker scenes. Heath Ledger brought that character to a whole new level. At first I was a little irritated at all the Oscar talk, but after seeing the movie....untimely death or not....he at least deserves the nomination and possibly the win.

    Bravo!

The thing I never liked about Bale as Batman was that he looks like he's chewing his face when he talks and while this isnt so bad when he's Bruce Wayne, when all you can see of him is his mouth, its quite annoying. Still, he's a great actor and has the physical presence to pull it off. Nobody's perfect I suppose and I cant think of anybody better to play Batman.

Im most looking forward to seeing the Joker. The hype surrounding this performance is unreal! But supposedly Ledger portrays the Joker as he's supposed to be portrayed - not as a crazy clown but as a scary, pure psychopath and downright evil ****!

I probably wont get out to see this til next weekend and I cannot wait! Im looking forward to this flick more than any in recent memory. Theyve made me a Batman fan!!

Maybe I'm strange or something, but if a movie is THAT great, then 2.5 hrs isn't hard, for me, to sit through. I've actually found myself wanting REALLY good movies to be longer, to add more info, etc.

Exactly. Some of my favorite movies clock in at almost 3 hours (or more). A few that come to mind - The Aviator (170 mins), The Deer Hunter (182 mins), Godfather 2 (200 mins)... probably more. None of them ever struck me as "long" because they were interesting start to finish.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

It needed to be that long to get everything in, they were smart to not try and shorcut things too quickly. The whole movie was much more involved than the typical comic book movie. The only reason that it felt long to me is that the movie was sooo dark and intense in the joker scenes that it wore you down a little. All and all, very good flick!

I personally have no problem with long movies. We're paying thru the nose to see these flicks in the theaters - might as well get our money's worth. That being said, if the movie is a major yawn then anything over 90 minutes could get pretty rough but for an **** whoopin' flick that keeps you on the edge of your seat, you want it long enough. As mentioned - The Godfather...they couldve made Godfather 1 and 2 into a single movie and I wouldve been fine with it.

I saw the movie on IMAX last night and it was by far the single most incredible movie going experience I have ever had in my life. The film itself blew me away with great acting, plot, characters, and action. Also, the upscaled 35mm to 70mm scenes looked brilliant and then the scenes that were actually shot on 70mm were simply out of this world. (The first movie to actually be partially shot on this huge film stock.)

Then of course there was the uncompressed audio pumping out of the 14,000+ watt audio system.

Took my eldest son to see it last night.

Kicks ****!!! A definite must see. Will be getting this on BluRay the day it's released. The only drawback was having to listen to everyone tell Gyllenhall(sp?) she's beautiful.:rolleyes: I have yet to figure that one out. She's not even remotely attractive in my book.

Unbelievable flick for so many reasons. I have to echo the opinion that irrespective of Heath Ledger's death, his performance was uncanny. This truly brought the "comic book movie" to a whole new standard.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. Wow, what a fantastic movie. Heath Ledger is on his way to an Academy Award out of this. Just... amazing. Completely worth every penny paid to see him do it.

It's a much darker a movie than any other comic series I've ever seen on the big screen, but it really seems to work. My only critique, if someone put a gun to my head and forced one out of me, would be the casting of Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. Aside from that, the movie was incredible!

All I know is that I never want to see The Joker show me a magic trick!

As a side note, it's currently ranked #1 on IMDBs top movies of all time, with 65k votes in the shoot. I'll need to digest that some more before I decide whether or not it warrants that position in my humble opinion, but it certainly ranks somewhere in my top 10

Yea I've been watching that too. I'm not convinced it deserves to be there. Of course many movies start out in the top 250 and eventually end up falling, but I've never seen one last this long in that high of a position. I'll have to see the movie a few more times to make my final judgement. But as of now I find it really hard to believe that I could rank it above the likes of the Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Usual Suspects etc... Those are some really stellar movies. I guess time will tell.

I actually find myself wishing a lot of movies were longer (or at least the DVD version) since many are way too short and secondary story lines are often poorly developed and unfinsihed. (especially book adaptations, they have killed Harry Potter in the movies after 1 and 2)

I understand there is no "pause" button at the theater, but at least for the DVD (which is all I watch anyway, haven't been to a theater in years) give us the whole movie not the abridged version.

Containing the thematic content of “The Long Halloween” and “Batman Year One” along with the overall feel of “The Dark Knight Returns” Nolan’s Dark Knight has enough to satiate any fan of the best of the Batman comics. It is clear that he and Bale have really done their homework in pulling off what nobody has been able to do yet. Developing an onscreen mythos that matches and in some ways surpasses the original source material. After hearing the hype and seeing the trailers I was not impressed and frankly was a little apprehensive to see this movie. I thought that “Batman Begins” was as good as it was going to get as far as Batman on screen goes. Well I could not have been more wrong. This movie is superior to “Begins” in everyway. The casting of Ledger, as has been mentioned on numerous occasions was a masterstroke. The one thing that should be mentioned is that this movie is a lot more than Ledger. As incredible as he is the other major players are also on their A game. Bale’s Bruce Wayne was one of the highlights of “Begins” and he continues to shine in the role. His take on Batman has always been to the extreme, to play that character as laid back or reserved in anyway totally misses the point. He is supposed to be a freak scaring the crap out of criminals, cops, civilians… Bale does just that. I can’t think of a better approach. I could go on about this movie but I’ll just say this, if you are a fan of crime drama, action movies, comics or just great acting see this movie, you will not be disappointed.

I've heard the pacing of this one is just like the first, I don't think I could make it, that's just too long. Begins should have been cut by 30 minutes, so this one will be a blind buy just like the first.

Just got back from seeing it the second time. PHENOMENAL movie, bar none.

And for those of you saying it's too long...what the heck?! It's a GREAT movie, with GREAT acting on everybody's part, there's definitely enough action sprinkled in here and there to keep you from falling asleep (as if the rest of it were actually boring!), etc, etc.

Definitely worth the second watch, and hope to watch it a third time with my girlfriend. I'll definitely be picking this one up.

And it truly is amazing how well Heath Ledger pulls of the role of The Joker. AMAZING job with that role. The whole time during the movie I was looking forward to when the next one comes out so I can see him in it again...but guess that's not going to happen. :(
